Lance - It's taking me this long to comment on your picture not because I'm ignoring you, but because I'm struggling with my words, instead. This is my third attempt at reviewing this picture. I 'think' what I'm struggling with are the leaning trees on both sides leading my gaze to the dark sky at the top, not deep into the picture. It's as if they were impeding the view to the brightest part of the picture, the puffy white clouds on the horizon. Different angle: I love the dramatic sky (polarizing filter?) and would love to see more of Lake Tahoe. |

Ha! Love your analogy! Maybe I should have titled this picture 'Jonah's View of the Whale'! (FYI: this is a story from the bible). Thanks for your kind words |

Adi - I'm not sure I can add anything to what Michael and Lance already said...but let's try. I like the three layers of the picture. Rocks on the bottom and left, silky smooth water in the middle and a compelling old building on the top. Three layers linked by a bridge. The building works particularly well in B&W. Job well done! |

Don - HDR well done. Interesting that you are making me twist my head to try to read the titles of the books. I like the horizon on the bottom third because the ceiling is more interesting for me. I tried to straighten the walls to see what would happen. You are right, it doesn't look as good. The angles of the walls help frame and guide the eyes towards the center of the image and work as leading lines to the beams. Love it! |

Michael - I love this triptych! Each picture elicits a different feeling in me. The first one is that I'm about to take a little trip underground. A little apprehension... The second on the other hand spooks me for some reason. Since this was/is a fort, I can image running into prisoners or torture chambers. Don't ask me why... Now that I survived THAT interlude, I'm ready to emerge back into the sunshine. Job really well done! |

Thank you very much guys for your kind words. Yes, I was laying on the floor looking straight up. Good thing nobody walked over me. This photo represents my photographic passion of architecture, especially unusual angles. This reminds that I think I know what next month's picture will be providing I can re-develop it in B&W - A Bientot! |
