Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
14 Jul 17 Comment So it comes down to creativity/artistic values vs reality. Plus how many times have we been told or read that snow is not blue, that shadows on snow are not blue and that we need to make changes to avoid that color. I find Larry's comments persuasive but am also a tad amused as I recall all sorts of editing suggestions for making an image more "artistic"--just teasing.

14 Jul 17 Comment When I first viewed this image I thought the boy was jumping into deep water and that the dad was concerned about his safety. Your explanation helps and use of Sports action helped you catch a peak moment. Colors excellent, good composition but I agree flipping it makes sense. Ordinarily I am almost fanatic about having horizontal lines horizontal--usually caused by holding the camera crooked (lakes and oceans do not flow uphill!). But in this case it is extreme, likely caused by the photographer's location and indeed adds to the dynamics of the scene.as pointed out by Charissa. Jul 25th
14 Jul 17 Comment Thanks Arun and Charissa. I was troubled about composition when I sent it in. After viewing Arun's version I feel that if I enlarged it I would crop to the five flowers on the left and make it vertical. And darken background flowers.

BTW the last word of my 2nd sentence is "color", not colt (which does not alert the SpellChek!) Mountain laurel grows wild on low temperate mountains, esp. in middle Appalachians. I have seen it growing wild in western PA, southern OH, and have read it is in Smoky Mtn Ntl Park. I have seen it cultivated in northern OH (this bush) and Harvard U campus. I think, like rhododendrons and azaleas, they prefer acid soil.

In CS 3 you get to Smart Sharpen by selecting Filter/Sharpen/Smart Sharpen. A small screen shows an enlarged section of the image. True confession: I have messed with controls but never have noted any improvement! I click on modification anyway on the assumption that it is my poor eyesight that prevents me from seeing anything. So I use it sort of like a loupe, primarily to check on existing sharpness!

14 Jul 17 Comment I find this rose to be a lovely rendition or the original lovely flower. The sepia coloring seems a bit depressing, as if the rose were going to be used on the casket of a recently deceased loved one, Bt it is unique whereas the lavendar version is just another rose!. Or as was famously said, "A rose is a rose Is rose!" Jul 14th
14 Jul 17 Comment Beautiful! I have seen other images but unfortunately never "in person". In those photos I don't recall the colors of the wall and building facade being shades of the same intense red-orange. Speaking theoretically the composition would be improved if te building were more contrasty to the rock wall. But I do not suggest messing with a well-known historical building. Another reality question: was the building slanting downward? Every "horizontal" line is slanting down from left to right! Or maybe you held the camera on the slant? That is easily fixed. Jul 14th
14 Jul 17 Comment Looks majestically beautiful to me. I would not change a thing! Well maybe the snow on very bottom edge is bluish and following Pat's suggestion should be brightened. Jul 14th
