O.k. i'll weigh in: I love the simplicity! Don't crop! But I wonder if the sun is copied to make the reflection, then what is the origin of the little "nibble" out of the "reflected" sun? Did a shark take a bite? Or perhaps an alligator? |

This time I side with Larry-give the tower room to breathe.
Although I would be tempted to replace Stuart;s blue sky--which I would try to make it lss turquoise and mot "sky blue". Where is this building in DC? What is it used for now? |

Beautiful contrast between old and new. I took a very similar photo (a slide) some years ago in Boston of an old church and, I think, the John Hancock building. I think yours is better! I agree with making right side of skyscraper parallel to the edge I don' see Fran's crane, so obviously it does not bother me! |

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. To me the attraction of the original scene and what the camera "saw" were the light hues bringing out the magic, such that an elf or a fairy might peek around a tree trunk (thanks Stuart). This is conveyed by the mist (fog, cloud) enveloping the landscape. Larry's version has an entirely different feel to it, scary, ominous, spooky, even threatening. I would expect a troll or a dwarf to stomp along the trail. A good image but not what I was trying to convey at all.
I do agree with Larry that the debris at the right end of the sandy trail is forest debris--twigs, fallen leaves (ironwood leaves very much like pine needles). |

Interesting portrait of a spontaneous moment. I am a bit bothered by the lack of detail, probably caused by the steamy atmosphere. Much like my submission to your right where the mist is an integral part of my "previsualization". Se comments on Comments.

This is a great monochrome. The black sky sets off the tower beautifully. Love the texture. I am a tad bothered by lack of vertcals. What is archrectural distortion (caused by looking up with the structure seeming to fall backwards. Easily fixed. But here some of the walls are indeed taperd or curved. The railings on the right are most likely distorted slightly. |
