Hi Dean, my error. The aperture was set by the camera, not by me. I was trying to figure out if I had the wrong number on the original description but the computer and camera both listed it as f32. Then I thought, why would I have set such a small priority if my goal was to get more light in the dark setting. I checked the camera and realized I couldn't even make the camera go to f32. Then I realized that I set the Shutter Priority and the camera automatically adjusted the aperture. Honestly, I don't understand why. Was it because I had the ISO too high? Or because I set the shutter to open longer meant the camera wanted to reduce the light by decreasing the aperture?
A little embarrassing, but a happy mistake that helped me think through the process. :)

Taken with a Sony Alpha 6000. Focal Length 210 mm (the max I had). ISO 2000 (in a dark stadium with a spotlight on center of arena only. Tried to balance the need for light with graininess.   I set the camera to Shutter Priority and adjusted the speed to 0.5 sec. Trying to capture a blend of movement while still capturing some details in a few of the faces. Not able to use a tripod here, but I wonder how it would have changed the image.  The aperture was set by the camera at f32.  |
