60 Apr 24 Reply Hi Dean. Thank you for your feedback. I was able to take some close ups of the truck as well. I also like the idea of picking a unique characteristic in my subject and working on an angle that would really bring it out. With this in mind, I like the front grill with it's pattern of non-pattern of rusty colors. I would also really consider those side grills interesting. Maybe an image from a front/side angle including a portion of the front grill with the side grills as the focus point and a bit of the fender. I am going to another car show at the end of May and will keep this in mind during my photographs. Apr 17th
60 Apr 24 Reply Hi Lance :) Thank you for the feedback. There was definitely a lot of old discarded and rusty items surrounding this truck, including a shipping container! It was a bit of a challenge trying to decide what angle to take the image from without competing with too much clutter but still including enough of a background to give a setting. There was also the challenge of walking through the tall grass after being warned to watch out for snakes :-/ Apr 17th
60 Apr 24 Reply Hi Anne, thank you for the suggestions and feedback. Apr 17th
60 Apr 24 Reply Thank you so much Tim. I really appreciate the feedback, I ask the questions because I am a novice and want to learn from the group as much as possible. I am embracing my "but why" thought process for now, it helps me remember what to look out for and how to achieve different looks for future images. Apr 17th
60 Apr 24 Reply Hi Tim,
Thank you so much for the suggestions. I will give them a try and repost the picture with the new settings. Can I pick your brain just a bit? What prompted the grass to a slightly orange hue? Was it to give it a drier look? Thanks again!

60 Apr 24 Comment Tim, thank you for giving us a recipe to creating an even more beautiful image than the one originally captured. I absolutely love the the way you brought out the texture of his hair/fur. What a beautiful and photogenic dog.

60 Apr 24 Comment HI Robert, like you're choice on the tint and exposure. The color blends the background a little with out taking away the interest on the story of an abandoned playground. I like that there is a little bit of light reflected on the ground also away from the hoop, it gives a sense of movement. Apr 14th
60 Apr 24 Comment Hi Rita, You should definitely submit this image to the "people" category. It's a unique and thought provoking image of dark to light and the life to come also preparing to come to light (light and birth are equal in Spanish). I really like the height on the windows. I added a crop for you to consider. I don't know that the ratio would work but here is an attempt to keep the height on the windows and the focus on the woman. I just wanted to experiment a bit and move the image to see how it would look. I also added a teeny tiny vignette around the window for transition. But honestly, I like your image as you set it. It does a great job of placement of the woman, the height of the windows, and unique angled perspective. I would just remove the man in the background and maybe maybe maaaaybe the window notch?? 60 Apr 24 Comment Hi Dean,
I thought it was a crow when I first saw the image, interesting to learn that it was not. Either way, I still appreciated the beauty of it's feathers and colors. I like the depth of field you have in this image with the bird being in sharp focus while the leaves in front and behind are blurred. It feels like I am peeking through the long grass too.
I have heard that black color can be very difficult to capture in images especially when the surrounding setting is light. Did you make any adjustments on the camera before taking the image?

60 Apr 24 Comment Hi Anne,
I also really like black and white photographs. I like that you took something traditional like the beautiful colors of the sunset and decided to take a risk with it in B&W. With the bare trees it gives a chilly vibe. It paid off. The highlighted area in the lake from the sunlight leads the viewer to the two people enjoying the lake. It looks very peaceful.
I am focusing on learning more about camera settings so I would love to ask you about the settings you used. I see the f14 and SS 1/125. Did you choose the aperature and the SS? Or was the SS set by the camera once you chose the aperature? If you chose the SS, would you share why you chose the 1/125 setting? Thank you so much Anne, I appreciate your teaching.
