I do like the final black and white version, and rounded border. I think that it gives the photo an old school look. It is a little difficult for me to make out how many boats there are in the final version, but I'm not sure how to highlight those. |

Great close up of the woodpecker. I noticed that you were at 400mm. You must have a nice lens for that length. Good job on getting the focus on the woodpecker, with the blurred background. I agree that the original was a little dark, but you did a great job of rescuing that, and bring out the details on the feathers. I do agree with Angela's cropping out the minor distractions. But I think your colors are great. |

Thanks Rose,
I'll keep making updates, still mastering the editing tools. It's a funny thing. I can hold my Nikon steady at shutter speeds as slow as 1/4 of a second, but I can't hold my hand steady when trying to edit my photos. Thanks again. |

Hi Angela. Thanks for the link. I don't have the lights that this person has, but it did show that I need to do a better job of taking into account room lights. This person also leaves a lot more room between background and subject, and subject and lens than I do. So more stuff to practice, but that is a good thing. Please see attach and let me know what you think. I started over using NX Studio to edit. It is an editor that Nikon provides for free to update NEF files, which are Nikon RAW files. I still might end up with a reshoot, but I think that this one is better. |

Thanks Angela. The non photographers I know think that Still Lifes are easy. They have no idea how challenging they are. I do like the cropping you did. There is plenty of unoccupied space in my version. I did not think to straighten the background, so I want to think about that a bit. |

Hi Rose,
I have been looking at your photo the last ten minutes and stay focused on painter and her painting. I think that was your intent, so well done. I can't think of anything that can really be changed. I ask for feedback, so I want to provide it as well, but I'm not seeing much to change.

Hi Angela,
Your patient has really paid off on this shot. Capturing them back to back like that is amazing. You must have been pretty close to get the background so well distorted, that really helps put the focus on the birds.
Maybe you could make them a little sharper using your editor. I'm not sure what you use for that, but Photoshop Express has a good sharpening tool. But that might affect the background. Well done, and well centered. I'm not sure what is in the right lower corner, maybe a little distracting, but awesome photo. |
