Thanks Stan,
I'll give this another try as soon as I can. It has been really cold here. Not unusual for Minneapolis, but flowers can die between the store your car when it has been like this. But I will be looking at the histograms of my photos going forward. The histograms are included on the D80 I have, so that should provide some good information.
Someone from other photo club suggested turning this to black and what. I have attached that version. It appears that there is still some detail retained, but good be better. |

I have attached a snippet of the histogram. You are correct, there is a spike of color at the very right. There is also a huge spike of white at the left, which would make sense because I cranked up the flash to maximum strength.
Thanks for the feedback, and mentioning the histogram. I have seen these, but I have not looked at them much, but might be a useful tool.

I like the family photo a lot, and how the updates add detail to the clouds. Maybe lighten the faces a little, but otherwise a great photo. |

This is a really good photo. Great contrast with between the geese and the glacier. I don't do much wildlife, and I find it hard to get this good of focus when I do.
I know I am not offering much for improvements to the group, but main goal this month was to introduce myself to the group. You are all very good photographers. I am looking forward the coming months. |

Great photo. I like the lighting and how there doesn't seem to be a background. I'm trying to similar results with some of my still life's. Again, great photo. |

I like the black and white also and how fits with old school farming. I also like that there appears to be a little room on the right of the photo. It seems to fit weel with the moving subject. |

I like the photo a lot and think that going with the black background and enhancing the refection were the correct updates to enhance the photo. I also like the amazing coincidence that we both chose black acrylic as our base this month. I can't think of much else to change. The reflection is a little off center, but I'm not sure if it would be better if was straighter. |

Thanks Angela,
I was experimenting with my flash when I took the photo, and I liked the contrast the flash created between the flower's true color in the reflection, and the white that reflected from the flash.
But I agree that it may be a little too much. In fact I like the changes that you made. I have been using Photo Express instead of the full version, so I'm not sure if I can recreate the image like you did, but I will give it a try so that I can learn this better. |
