The flowers in the background upper right seem to b a distraction and make the photo busy. Without them the focus is on the main flowers and with the texture you added it makes this an interesting modern art photo. Nicely done |

The flower is nicely cropped from the original photo and the green background brings out the red petals. The one flower facing the camera shows the uniqueness of this beautiful orchid. Well done. |

Of course I like the colored photo better but for a monochrome the contrast between the black and white is excellent. Even the grays stand out well against the black background. I like the twig at the bottom that compliments the vegetation under the flower petals. What a beautiful monochrome photo. |

The light yellow shades in the background coordinate well with the color of the flower. It looks very stately and strong. Perhaps tilting it at an angle would create a different response. A very good job. |

The dark, mottled green, contrasting background really brings out the beautiful pink edging on the flower. I like its simplicity. Nice job. |

I really like the lighting on this image, especially the fiery orange glow in the background. Everything is sharp. Your work in studying this flower really paid off with an excellent result. |

Wow what a difference. I looked at the histogram and then reopened the original raw file. I changed the auto adjustment to make the white items darker. Then when I opened it and could see the histogram, the whites were no longer blown out. I agree with David that the second crop is the best composition but I cropped this version closer so that the difference in the white blossoms can be seen. Thanks Dick for helping me find a better way. |
