The bright background is not something you can always control. Changing viewpoints is one option with more of the tree and less of the sky, or a little fill flash. Cropping in closer is also a good option and what I would have preferred. The dark BG in Mervyn's edit is very unnatural and the halo around the subject is a dead giveaway. |

I love the play of colors. On a bright sunny day with the harsh shadows a little fill flash might be useful to punch some light into the shadows. |

Thank you for the comments and critiques. I have attached the RAW file in JPEG. I don't know if I even tried to move the tusk from the center. Just the way he was standing in front of me. Cropping the tusk out completely would be a possibility but I never thought about it. |

This is a beautiful, fun picture. A slight crop to decrease the dead space behind the swan or even a vertical crop, and a vignette would help in bringing attention to the subject. |

Nice picture of birds in flight. The focus is good and the picture is sharp. The small maximum aperture (wide open) does not allow for a good out of focus background. |

A study in nature. A slight vignette would help. Emphasizing the lights and darks will bring out the texture on the elephant. |
