A great capture of nature in the wild. As you said, it's what lions do to survive. You don't need to show the whole prey, so your decision to just concentrate on the lioness was right. It's good that her eyes are sharp and with a catch light. I'm not so bothered by the noisy, out of focus, background, but I would have liked the foreground a little more in focus (very difficult to achieve). Also, I would add some space at the top, so her ear doesn't touch the frame (maybe it was lost during the cropping). |

I like the way you captured her posture, which although posed still feels very natural. The background complements perfectly the main subject. When I think of Africa, I think of color. Therefore, I prefer the original photo (with the cropping from the top, as Bob suggested). |

I can feel the motion, and her expression is perfect for the scene. I like Bob's suggestion to highlight some areas. It improves the mood of the image. Also, I would darken the lower part of the background, to eliminate the ripples (which are a little distracting). |

Your post-processing added movement to the picture. I find the original too static, in part due to her tense expression. Her expression is still in the final version, but you cannot do anything against it. I agree with the change of color to red, and with the smog at the bottom. Not so sure about the texture of the background, which I find distracting. I would have kept the original black. |

Welcome back Kirsti! We wish you a fast recovery!
Interesting subject, simple but with a lot of texture, geometric elements, and a three-dimensional feeling. I didn't notice it on the webpage, but the black background occupies around half of the image. You don't need so much blank space. Make it just a sliver, or eliminate it totally. Also, the top corners can be distorted a little to make the main subject perfectly square. |
