I was there only once, after a street event in Adams Morgan. Answer to your question: pure luck! (it was Sunday) |

This is a typical situation where you need HDR (you did it with two exposures). I like the composition, with the big boulder leading to the mountain, so nothing to change there. The tones (especially in the foreground) are right, but -as others said- I would have preferred a stronger (darker) rendition for the peaks and the sky. |

I like the mood in this picture, and your cropping clearly improved it. Otherwise, the three main subjects would be lost in the image. However, I agree with Bob that a little more cropping from the top and the left will help. For the mood, I prefer your more bluish version. What distracts me a little is the vertical shape (what is it?) in the middle, just right from the big boulder. You might consider cloning it out.

This is clearly some abandoned building, no doubt about it! Nice texture, probably enhanced by your B&W treatment. Although there are many elements in the photo, I don't find it too busy, since they complement the main subject. I wouldn't change anything. |

I was surprised by how sharp your final image looks after such heavy cropping. Not easy to achieve. As you said, the catchlight on its eye is key to the success of the photo. For your final image, I would even crop a little more from the top, maybe halfway between the border and its beak. Looking at the original, I wonder about a not so tight cropping, leaving the trunk of the tree, the branch where the bird stays, and more from the back of its body. |

RAW images normally don't reproduce the tones as one has seen them on the camera's viewfinder. So, there is nothing wrong in enhancing them in post-processing. Your final photo looks very natural, and what I would have expected. I like the composition, with good balance between the flowers and the leaves. Since you have already done some cloning, how about "repairing" the broken part of the top leaf (1/3 from the top margin)? |
