Welcome to the group, Kirsti! The B&W version is definitely an improvement over the original in color. It lets the viewer better appreciate the structure of the hill and makes the clouds interesting. I like the composition, and my only suggestion would be to increase the contrast a little. |

I don't see how you can improve this beautiful image. The composition is wonderful, with the blue ice chunk balancing the smaller red boat. I can also see small pieces of ice floating in the background. The tones are superb. |

Very nice. Same muted feeling as your previous picture. I like the composition, with the fence anchored by the pole and running diagonally from left to right. I wouldn't change anything. |

I don't have anything to add, except congratulating you to this wonderful photo. Everything works well in this almost abstract image, with the tree perfectly placed using the rule of thirds. Exposure is spot on, and the curves provide a very powerful compositional element. |

I share your ambivalence on this photo. Technically, the B&W version is flawless and there are some geometrical forms to catch the eye. However, I don't find the composition interesting. It might be the massive round stone dominating the picture, which overwhelms all other elements. Also the "window" on the right contains too much negative space. Try cropping from the bottom and from the right, concentrating on the round elements and the two doors (see example). |
