Bob, welcome to the group! Thank you for sharing this technique to change backgrounds with tones that match the main subject. It's interesting how changes in the background give a completely different feeling to the same subject. Maybe I should start trying it. |

It is a good composition, although I don't find so obvious the connection between the tree and the waterfall. I agree with your decision to lighten up the tree in the middle of the frame, but I would have kept the tree on the left with the same brightness as the original. In a way, it can serve as a counterweight to the other tree. |

As you said, this is not for everyone, and I don't think that I would go in this direction. Having said that, I must admit that the final result is very intriguing and makes the viewer look carefully and explore the image. At first, I thought of an object distorted by glass bricks. What's interesting is that anyone of the 15 squares renders a different image, but that they all contribute to a harmonious picture. The tones are the right ones. |

Nice scene: well composed and with a lot of interesting elements. The church is well balance by the tombstones on the right, and the tree helps anchoring the whole image. The landscape in the background adds an attractive element, and the lighting is very subtle. My only comment is that I find the picture slightly tilted to the left, but this is something easy to solve. |

The expression of the man and the ambience created by the smoke are priceless. All works well in this portrait, where one can see his wrinkles and details in his beard and eyebrows. I commend you for the excellent lighting achieved in a street scene: everything seems perfectly exposed and you got all the tonal ranges. In my screen, the photo could benefit from a little (1/3 stop) darkening, but maybe this is not the case in your original. |

These (original and final) are two photos with completely different feeling. In a way, I prefer the original, which is more subtle. But I understand what you wanted to achieve with your adjustments, and you got a very striking image. The colors are dramatic, and they complement each other very well. Also, a lot of texture on the petals. The only thing I would do is to eliminate the white spot on the left anther. |
