11 Jan 26 Reply Thanks Murphy! Well, "chance favors the prepared mind"... Jan 21st
11 Jan 26 Comment Thanks Sheldon. It was a very "in the moment" image. Jan 20th
11 Jan 26 Reply Hey Henry, Thanks. Yes, that water really is interesting. I was attracted to this image because of that geometry which makes it very dynamic. Jan 13th
11 Jan 26 Comment Hey Henry, Great capture. My first impression was of a pyramid as that very strong geometric shape just holds your attention. Add the layers as noted and you've got a rare image of your locale! Jan 12th
11 Jan 26 Comment Hey Charles, Great subject and composition. Given the other comments, yes I would lighten up the clouds to seperate the different layers of the image. Jan 12th
11 Jan 26 Comment Hey Sheldon, my first reaction was to the contrast of shapes from the foreground building vs. the one in the rear; very unique! The stairway really draws my eye up and around again. Well done B&W processing. Jan 12th
11 Jan 26 Comment Hey Murphy, excellent composition that was commented on already. Globe not withstanding, like the use of sepia to age the image! Jan 12th
11 Jan 26 Comment Hey Peter, really like this. The B&W does it more justice. Given some of the comments about the exposure on the windows and assuming you shot this raw, have you tried using a linear profile (vs. the default profiles in software) for developing and then adjusting the exposure for the windows? I have done this on some very white bird shots and was able to bring out more detail... Jan 12th
11 Jan 26 Reply Thanks Peter! The light was almost perfect for this venue. Jan 12th
11 Jan 26 Reply Hey Murphy, yes they are fascinating creatures. I was thrilled with this intimate shot as we were following several whales further out and saw this one coming closer. The 100-400mm lens was a great choice for this shoot as it allowed me to change focal length quickly to properly frame this as you see. Jan 12th
11 Jan 26 Reply Thanks Charles, Yes a slight vignette helps. Glad you liked it. As you can see from the original the overcast lighting really helped too! Jan 12th
