Nice shot from a moving boat! The red of the roof and the flag go nicely together. You might want to crop in on the right to cut out the farthest right "piling"? log thing since it's a little crooked. Is it possible to sharpen the shanty a little? This might look interesting in black and white since it looks old and weathered. |

Wow, you're so lucky to have seen this! Poor little gazelle, though. :-( Great shot!!! You could crop in a little starting from the top left corner just to be closer in to the cheetah, and maybe add a little vignette. Maybe try sharpening the subject a little, if possible. How close were you? |

Hi Don, that's an interesting-looking building! I think you did a nice job of changing it to black and white, which I prefer for this image. The left edge still could be straightened a little, if possible. If that's not possible, you could crop in so it's not noticeable. I'm wondering how they can put furniture into the corners of the rooms inside a triangular building. |

Julie, I think your image is beautiful and the judges should give you first place! The centers of the flowers are tack sharp and the green leaves are nice and soft. the horizontal leaf at the top could be darkened a little, but otherwise I wouldn't change anything! I like the leaves at the bottom left, but maybe you could darken or remove that white edge and especially the spot there. Those are very unusual-looking flowers! |

Hi Don. Focus stacking is when you take a picture close up, then another shot focusing on a point just a little farther away, then more shots focusing on slightly farther and farther points. Then either the camera or in Lightroom, (or Photoshop?), all of the images are combined, sometimes automatically as in LR, so that the entire subject is in focus. It definitely helps to use a tripod for this so that each photo is taken in exactly the same place. I think the default might be to focus stack 5 or 10 images. I need to try it a lot more. |

Wow, what a beautiful castle! Well done! We don't have many castles in the U.S. - just fake ones like Disneyland. Since the spire is cut off at the top left, you could erase it just above the pointed roof. I'd like to know how Don ADDED land to the bottom of the photo. Photoshop? I agree it's cropped a bit close to the bottom. I figure you had to in order to fit the entire castle in the photo. but it would be nice if you could add sky to the top and land to the bottom. |
