Hi Catherine,
Cool photo! Wow, those weeds have been there for quite awhile! You could crop off the left side to the "th" in your name, and the right side closer to the wall in the front yard so that the viewer can see more details of the house. If the bright green moss on the roof was desaturated, it might look older and more decrepit. This might look even spookier in black and white. |

Hi Ling Ling,
Very pretty! I agree, it might help to get closer to the trees. Maybe a different day will have more wind and better light. If you don't have a tripod with you, you might be able to improvise by propping the camera up against your purse, leg, a rock, book, whatever, and having a timer set so that you won't move the camera by pressing the shutter button. Another thing you could try is the opposite - instead of trying to get a clear photo, do In Camera Motion (ICM) instead. Move the camera left to right, or up and down, or zooming in, to get a blur of color. |

Hi Don,
What a cool tree! I actually prefer the color photo because the black and white one seems kind of noisy, and the colors are so nice in the original, and help to separate the twisted branches from the surroundings. However, the black and white DOES hide the manmade white and blue thing behind the tree (but you could hide that by cloning). You CAN actually blur the background in iPhone photos by putting your phone in Portrait mode (as in portrait of a person mode). |

Hi Henry,
I also like the arrangement of the leaves and how they go from yellow, to mixed, to red. I think the slats should be straightened. The contrast of the rough, dark wood against the colorful leaves is very nice. If you straighten the slats, you could crop off the top and bottom slats, as Ling Ling did. Nice photo! |

Hi Andrew,
Interesting photo! I think it helps a lot to have the 2 people in the picture to show scale and also to show that the sculptures are not people dressed in costume. The people help to tell the story - people enjoying a sculpture garden. It might've been better if the man in red was looking at the sculptures rather than the tiny sign which we almost can't see. It's good that he's wearing red because it draws the viewer's attention. |
