7 Mar 25 Comment Thank you Tomi - it was fun to do Mar 26th
7 Mar 25 Reply Thank you so much Hoshedar, I really appreciate your kind words, Yes, I was happy with it - and as noted, I'm a generalist so this was something I just wanted to try - as I wrote to Judith, if you can send me the image illustrated it would help, (bmazz68@icloud.com) but I'm not sure what you and Judith are referring to - I see a blemish in makeup from the corner of her eye, and a shadow that leads to her hairline, but you're the first two who've commented on that, so I'm eager to fix it - having said that, I'm not eager to re-shoot because it was kind of a one off "rainy day" type shoot. :-) Mar 24th
7 Mar 25 Reply Thank you for you comments Barbara Mar 24th
7 Mar 25 Reply Judith - my apologies for not responding sooner but for some reason the website isn't notifying me when someone comments and would ask Tom to look into that. So thanks for the heads up, my email is bmazz68@icloud.com so if you would, please highlight what you're referring too - there's a makeup line that's imperfect and the shadow created by her hand so I'm unclear of what you're referring to, so it would be most helpful to me if you could illustrate in an email - much appreciated Mar 24th
7 Mar 25 Reply Close ups of 'wrinkled' peppers could be an outstanding subject - hope you share them
Mar 15th
7 Mar 25 Reply Thanks Steven - and thanks for sharing the Man Ray photograph - I was trying to do something different and creative and agree, there are options, but this was my purpose in using the opaque black glass - at the same time, I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and 'research' - thank you! Mar 15th
7 Mar 25 Reply Thank you Tom - I believe the dark spots are shadows but good point, I will remove them Mar 15th
7 Mar 25 Comment Thanks for everyone's comments - my purpose was to create the reflection - I was just playing around trying to do something different Mar 15th
7 Mar 25 Comment A truly beautiful and visually interesting scene with strong cultural and storytelling elements that are truly timeless which, IMO give the image its impact and power - this image more than passes my usual six second rule, i.e., if I look at an image for more than six seconds I know I am looking at a good photo - I couldn't take my eyes away ? One of the best images I've seen in DD Mar 14th
7 Mar 25 Comment Judith - the image has a fine-art quality to it and of course the use of an odd number only adds to the composition. That said, I'm not sure how many people will take the time to really look at a monochrome of vegetables without VERY dramatic light and contrast - The peppers are artistically intriguing but less engaging in terms of their story or narrative. That said, how you did it was just outstanding Mar 14th
7 Mar 25 Comment Tomi the composition has very strong visual impact with the contrast of the dark bird against the softly glowing sun meanwhile, the blurred background isolates the subject nicely. However, two things stand out, 1 - the subject lacks detail, which I think could help the image and 2 -, the random lines add an artistic feel but also draw the viewer's eye. Nonetheless, I love the mood you created, and that's special! I never discount the effect of mood in a photography - most creative. Personally I love the moody, almost poetic feel to the image, evoking solitude or the end of the day. Mar 14th
7 Mar 25 Comment Tom - I really like this image, it has soft interesting appeal to it, and I commend you on how you separated the subject from its background, especially the other feature of interest, i.e., the wrought iron gate - I also thought you did an outstanding job using the natural frames in this image, i.e. how the subject was framed by the arch, but also how you thought to shoot thru the arch to the second arch and the gate - this is just an outstanding composition. I did punch it up a bit by added contrast and texture throughout, and darkening the foreground leading up to the subject and then putting the slightest vignette on the flowerpot. - Really nice! 67 Mar 25 Comment Kudos and going bxw, but the image is a bit busy and lacks a focal point, but I thought you did well in recovering lost detail Mar 29th
67 Mar 25 Comment I agree with Larry - capturing a sharp image of a Peregrine Falcon in the wild is simply outstanding - and I really, really like this image and just had to fool with it in post. I had to add canvas to illustrate the crop I prefer but you may have enough to work with in your original - in any event, while I think you did an outstanding job framing I have an issue with anything that leads the viewer out of the frame, so in my VF I added canvas and chose a 5x7 format, removed the top of the dead branches as noted, sharpened and added a bit of Skylight filter to help the image pop - as a photo club guy, I'm always editing with that in mind, but this image is a terrific capture - thank you for sharing Mar 24th
67 Mar 25 Comment You two have me smiling on this. I've always felt photographers try to animate a 3D object in 2D, thus the good lord gave us PS and LR :-) - great topic, it's really got me thinking, so thank you for bringing this up Larry. BTW, Larry, the site no longer notifies me when someone responds or comments, very hit and miss and I thought I'd start by telling you - LMK how you'd like me to investigate. And Cindy, I live down the road, my email is bmazz68@icloud.com and would love to connect. Mar 16th
67 Mar 25 Reply I guess great minds think alike - thank you Cindy Mar 16th
67 Mar 25 Reply Thanks Larry, I'll reprocess, good thought Mar 16th
67 Mar 25 Comment Bud - frankly I am amazed how sharp your subject is especially with the frozen wings - NICE! I didn't think you could stop hummingbird wings at 1/2000th second. In my VF I cropped in, eliminated some distracting branches, reduced both the saturation and vibrance of the red flower all of which intended to get the viewer focusing on the subject Mar 6th
67 Mar 25 Comment Larry, I think it's a great nature interaction story - as I commented on another image, I take the perspective of a photo club member versus a PSA competition where post processing like I did isn't allowed. In any event, I opened the shadows a bit on the gator and removed a part of the log that I felt drew the viewer's eye out of the frame. Mar 6th
67 Mar 25 Comment Cindy - this is a very nice capture of a rarely seen animal. What struck me most was the sharpness and clarity of the subject, and having a golden background helps the subject to stand out from the background. I find the image a bit busy, but then my perspective is as a photo club member and not someone getting ready for a PSA nature competition, where environment is more important, dare I say essential. In any event, nice job. Mar 6th
67 Mar 25 Comment Colorful and impactful image - in my visual feedback I cropped in a bit as I didn't think the pano crop was as effective - a bit too much space on the left side of the frame, but still a lovely image Mar 6th

73 Mar 25 Comment Thank you both for your comments - since I'm not notified when someone comments I wasnt aware you had - anyway, thank you both

73 Mar 25 Comment Images that bring back memories are important, so good for you if that was your purpose so thanks for sharing - in regard to Sherry's comment, there's no question that landscapes shot with long lenses can render some outstanding results. BTW Sherry, this is the third time I've commented on this image, and for some reason my comments sometimes disappear Mar 24th
73 Mar 25 Comment What a sterling composition - Peter, in my VF I really wanted to simplify the image to focus on your subject, so I removed the wind turbines because I didn't feel they added to your story "Golden Fields of Wheat" btw, "fields of gold" might also be a good title, but regardless, I softened then cropped down on the sky and very slightly de-saturated the wheat field and replaced with a touch of vibrance Mar 14th
73 Mar 25 Comment What a terrific composition - Gary, my modifications are subtle, but in my VF I sharpened, added tonal contrast in the Nik Suite, opened the shadows and used the linear gradient tool in LR to darken both the top and bottom edges of the frame to draw the viewer's eye - where along Lake Michigan's shore was this taken - this is a dramatic shot Mar 14th
73 Mar 25 Comment Another lovely image Sherry; that said, I'm always hesitant to modify them. Nonetheless, in my VF since we read left to right, I flipped the image, cropped in, removed some distractions from the corner below the lighthouse and the antenna that I didn't think helped the image, then straightened the horizon line and added texture and contrast to help it pop and finally a slight vignette Mar 14th
73 Mar 25 Comment What a beautiful and peaceful scene and a great composition - almost dreamlike. That said, I thought the scene was so beautiful that it needed a bit more contrast, so I added texture and contrast across the board and added the skylight filter twice in the Nik Suite to bring out the color a bit more. Having done that, this may not be the scene you saw, but I liked it so much I wanted it to pop a bit more. I also cropped in a bit and place the horizon line on the rule of thirds line because I thought it was a little better balanced that way - LMK your thoughts Mar 5th

97 Mar 25 Reply Thanks Julia - the vulture won when it was joined by about six others, just don't ask who won that encounter :-) Mar 27th
97 Mar 25 Reply I had to laugh, yes, I would have loved to have gotten a lower perspective but...:-) Mar 24th
97 Mar 25 Comment To all - thanks for your comments and sorry for not responding sooner, but I am no longer notified when comments are made about images, so I did not know - this is happening at all four of the DDs I belong to. Mar 24th
97 Mar 25 Comment Julia, a VERY nice portrait - I agree with Roy that might want to darken the background. You also might want to add canvas or re-crop if you already have the pixels - the current crop is a bit tight on the upper margin and if we could see the subject's feet, I suspect they'd be right on or off the bottom edge of the frame - just a suggestion but when cropping and you can't see an animal's or bird's feet due to grass or water or whatever, crop as if they are in the frame Mar 14th
97 Mar 25 Reply Yes, PS - actually, the only time I use AI is when I'm reviewing images - Still a nice shot...
Mar 10th
97 Mar 25 Comment What can I say Peter - we all see it. However, let's focus on the spectacular capture of kingfisher in full dive mode - that's your story, very nice job with the capture. Mar 6th
97 Mar 25 Comment A lovely image that exudes softness Kathleen. That said, clipped wings seldom add to an image. See my VF - I filled in the cropped out wing tips in AI Generative fill Mar 6th
97 Mar 25 Comment Roy - you captured a great portrait of a Roseate Spoonbill; while I have some nice spoonbill shots, I don't recall capturing the clarity and sharpness you did - kudos. That said, I'm reviewing as a photo club judge might. In a PSA nature competition the environment can be critical, but because this is a portrait I edited it that way and I thought #1 should be to increase the exposure to really show it off :-) Mar 5th
97 Mar 25 Comment I'm amazed at how sharp you got this using 840mm - NICE JOB! Were you on a tripod? The strength of this image is in it's detail and reflection - on the flip side, I wish the water droplets were a bit sharper but at a distance that required 840mm I think you needed more than f9. In my VF I cropped in and did my best to darken the distracting greenery in front of the subject by reducing highlights and adding a vignette Mar 5th
97 Mar 25 Comment What a great juxtaposition between the large and small; and I don't think you could have chosen a better perspective, nice job. In my VF I opened up the shadows to lighten the hooded crow and also tweaked the eye the bring out a bit a white to make its eye more apparent. I also cropped in especially the top and bottom of the frame to eliminate some of blurred foreground grass and some of the bright sky, which I also darkened. Lastly, I used the remove tool to get rid of that white spot in the lower center of the frame. While that may sound like a lot - this is really an excellent image where I thought a bit of tweaking might help. Mar 5th
