7 Jan 25 Reply I can't answer that - I'm far from a PS expert, which is why I use the NIK suite quite a bit - but Color Efex Pro in the Nik Suite can be very useful Jan 30th
7 Jan 25 Reply Thanks Hoshedar, your comments are appreciated Jan 30th
7 Jan 25 Comment Hoshedar - what you did well was to capture the scene the looking down on a cloud cover with hilltops piercing the cloud cover always adds a ton of visual interest. This is one of those shots that doesn't have a clear center of interest because it appears the entire scene is your COI - And as far as what you could do to improve the image, see my Visual Feedback - I wanted to "see" more of the scene so I opened the shadows in LR, enhanced and denoised and then took the image into Color Efex Pro (Nik Suite) and added Tonal Contrast and the Skylight filter to help the image pop and then added a very slight vignette and increased the exposure - btw - I agree with Judith about the crop, I did the same thing before I read her comments Jan 24th
7 Jan 25 Comment Jan 20th
7 Jan 25 Comment Valid point Tomi - it will be darkened, thank you :-) Jan 20th
7 Jan 25 Comment Tom - I'm gonna disagree on this one - I've never thought partial images work well, save for portraits (obviously) - otherwise, Old Glory just hangs in space. The bottom is essential in this image to complete the story :-)

7 Jan 25 Comment I have changed my mind on the above - I was looking at the image on a 7" inch screen in bad light - duh! I'm on my computer screen now, You might consider brightening but I think the composition is brilliant - great creative stil life Jan 12th
7 Jan 25 Comment Good thought and hope your rehab is going well
Jan 12th
7 Jan 25 Comment Absolutely love your composition, most creative - in my VF I played around a bit and wanted your thoughts, I felt the vase itself was too muted and blended into the background - just a suggestion. Jan 12th
7 Jan 25 Comment Good thinking on the exposure, whites can be tough with birds, but you did an outstanding job with it! - I've always felt most wildlife shots work better, i.e., have more impact when using a lower perspective, and since the image is relatively static, that may have worked better - but nice composition and perfect exposure - nice job Jan 12th
7 Jan 25 Comment The simplicity and the shadows make for a great composition, very creative, so kudos. That said, did you give any thought to shooting the same scene but from a much lower perspective? Jan 12th
7 Jan 25 Comment Good call adding the photographer, however, either all the trees starting from the side of the photographer and all on the left lean left or the image is canted left a bit. Jan 12th
7 Jan 25 Comment Thank you Bev, your kind words are appreciated ( and I feel the same way :-) Jan 12th

73 Jan 25 Comment Thank you Peter - it truly was a privilege to capture the scene - we moved down here almost two years ago and we find the desert to be amazingly beautiful once you accept the fact that everything in it wants to stick, sting or bite you :-) - Jan 30th
73 Jan 25 Comment Award winning images have three central elements - Impact, Visual Interest and Story, so, I did the math! A 10+ Jan 23rd
73 Jan 25 Comment Ian, if I had run 130 yards, I probably wouldn't have gotten the shot :-) your comment made me smile

73 Jan 25 Comment Thank you both for the comments Jan 16th
73 Jan 25 Comment Generative fill - two attempts, then when that failed, I cloned and pasted - still a beautiful city :-) Jan 8th
73 Jan 25 Comment I never realized Pittsburgh was such a beautiful city - ah, just kidding :-). I traveled there several times on business before retiring and it truly is a beautiful city, at least the parts that I visited and I think you captured it beautifully - that said, I thought the tree in the center of the image needed pruning in my VF Jan 7th
73 Jan 25 Comment VERY creative Peter; an image I believe would do well in a photo club competition. In my VF I eliminated the puffy cloud so the sky was featureless, straightened the "horizon line" as the image was canted to the right a bit and added contrast and texture to the buildings - while that may sound like a lot, it all began with your shot, as I said, most creative - nice job Jan 7th
73 Jan 25 Comment A lovely and tranquil image Ian, nice job with it. That said, I thought the image lacked a clear center of interest and the bright right side of the image dominated, so in my VF I 1) cropped down to eliminate some of the featureless sky, 2) opened the shadows on the peninsula, 3) removed most of the bright reflection along the shore in the bottom-center of the frame as I thought it drew the eye and 4) added a slight vignette centered on the peninsula Jan 7th

97 Jan 25 Comment Don't feel badly Roy, so do I. But with this image I just wasn't crazy about the color version so I converted - sometimes it works :-) Jan 14th
97 Jan 25 Reply Thank you Peter, your words are very welcomed by me
Jan 12th
97 Jan 25 Comment Kathleen - your words are so kind, and I truly appreciate your comments - I don't know if it's "perfection :-)" but I do try to create images with a high degree of impact and visual interest and it just makes me feel good when someone recognizes that. Thank you again, Jan 12th
97 Jan 25 Comment Anything I could say about this image would be nit picking, just an outstanding capture although I do agree with Roy re: the green line below the reflection of the cormorant on the right - a winner in any photo club competition - just boffo! Jan 7th
97 Jan 25 Comment Roy, I love this shot. Here's a suggestion if you're going to submit into competition, to me the story is the blowfish vis-a-vis the fact that the heron is facing away from the camera, so if it were mine, I'd consider titling the image "Skewered!" - in my VF, I re-cropped, lightened the blowfish, darkened the heron's head a neck a touch, highlighted the blowfish's eye a touch and added a very slight vignette centered on the blowfish's eye Jan 7th
97 Jan 25 Comment A terrific cormorant shot Julia and well-placed in the frame, although in my VF I did re-crop slightly while eliminating the grasses from around the subject's head area - I also lightened the wings and backside while adding 'a touch' of saturation to the subject's bill - nice job. Jan 7th
97 Jan 25 Comment Jan 7th
97 Jan 25 Comment In real estate it's "Location, location, location" and in photography it's "All about the light" and between the moody light and your absolute dynamite perspective all I can say is WOW! Just terrific Doc, just terrific! Jan 7th
97 Jan 25 Comment I agree with Roy - the slight offset really helps to bring this image to life. The first thing that struck me was how well you separated your subjects from the background and of course and as usual you technical works is simply superb - another beauty Peter - thank you. Jan 7th
