Deb,
Well spotted! On closer inspection I do see the halo. Will be removed. I tried to provide focus on the hands, but a you and Joe suggested, I think I over-blurred the body of the ape. I was trying to add interest by showing the ape off-center, but I can see how it can be a distraction. I had to do some sharpening as there was some motion blur: I was laughing as I shot it. I couldn't believe how he was mimicking me.

Wanda,
I agree with Deb regarding sharpness of the flower against the blurred background. I also like the framing with the green pedal that serves to counter balance the flower. I would like to have seen a little more saturation in the pedals and the yellow stamen - especially given the way those colors can contrast with each other. Finally, there's a purplish line from the flower on the green leaf that is a distraction for me. |

Deb,
Good timing as you were able to get the heron's wing movement. I would like seeing the bird sharper, perhaps against a blurred background. The log behind the bird's neck is a distraction for me as well, perhaps it can be removed? I wouldn't mind a little more saturation in the blue feathers and more contrast in the image overall.

Thanks Sabine. As a newbie, I'm curious as to how you saw this image. It says you are in group 9. Are all images posted in all of the groups available to everyone? Is there a central place to see them all or do you just pick and choose groups you're interested in? Any help would be appreciated.

Joe- Yep,not shown here but I went back and added more detail in the rest of the animal and I like it better! Thanks. As a newbie to PSA, I'm still confused about competition rules i.e star ratings, acceptances, and all those acronym designations (wow!) so I won't be putting this into competition anytime soon. |

I agree that b&w works very well in this image. Nice contrast against the white backboard. I also like the framing with your grand daugher off center a little. Her face is very clear and I can tell she's concentrating. I'd prefer it to be a little sharper and for a little more detail in the black skates, but even at 1/500 that can be challenging. I have to believe your grand daughter will love it. |

Love this abstract. Colors are terrific. Wonderful idea! For me however, the halo is a distraction, especially on the slanted side. Also, I'm seeing some banding in the third loop, unless that's my monitor. If it is banding, I'd like the image better without it. |
