All - I did some more work on this photo and tried to incorporate most if not all the suggestions. I darkened the lighter path areas, brought down the shadows in the trees, and sharpened the train a little.
Bunny, you are correct the train is a bit soft - at least the engine, which is the most important part. My aperture was at f/4 and a higher one definitely would have been better, but as I said I was fumbling with my settings while trying to get in position to get the shot. I think the second car is actually the one in focus.
I personally was not all that happy with the orange color of the train, so I pushed it towards red and am personally happier with that choice. |

Ally, nice work. The parallel lines and the very different textures of the sea, the foam, and the sand are almost as interesting as the bird scurrying along. Getting down low really made this shot. |

Lisa, this is a great dramatic photo and so detailed. I also really like the second photo you posted as well with the climber looking down. Those two images together would make a really great framed diptych. |

Bunny, a truly unique photo and perspective. If it hadn't been for your description I'm not sure I would have recognized it as the space needle. You very purposefully lead the view through the photo. I like the fact that you focused on the Chihuly flower as opposed to the space needle. I'm not seeing anything that I would suggest changing, nice work. |

Carole, I thought I actually commented on this earlier but I don't see it here so I apologize for my lateness.
I do love sunflower photos, and this is a really good one. Your perspective really works, and the detail is what makes it. Very well executed! I don't have a problem with the bud on the left hand side. The only suggestion I would make would be to include the very tips of the green petals on the right, but I also know how these things go - you step back a little to get all of the green petals, and now suddenly you have more of the flower elsewhere as well and somehow the overall balances off. |

Thanks Carole. I will have to admit I didn't even notice the reflection when I was shooting; I was so focused on catching the engine. I could hear the train coming and I had to rush to get myself in position and fumble with my settings as well, I was thrilled to find the reflection when I pulled it up on my computer. I agree with darkening some areas; I'm going to work on some areas and repost. |

Thanks Ally, that is great advice to darken the path and I'm ashamed I didn't think of that myself. I'll work on it and repost. |
