12 Nov 24 Comment Love this composition Ally, and the color combinations.

If you look closely there is a halo of light with a bluish tinge around the main flower, which is not unusual for backlit photos. If you're comfortable with Photoshop I would duplicate the photo in a second layer, set that second layer blending mode to darken, then mask out the halo using clone and the green background as paint.

Hopefully setting the blending mode to darken would keep the green from bleeding into the pink flower as you paint but would make the transition from the flower to the background a little smoother.

12 Nov 24 Comment Nice job of describing your vision and then executing it. I like the focus on the upper petals with all the water droplets. It's interesting to see where the in-focus areas of the flower are compared to the areas that are not quite in focus. For example, the upper half of the center of the flower (slightly OOF) compared to the lower half of the center (in focus), while the petals in the upper half are in focus compared to the lower petals (OOF).

Playing with some focus stacking then doing selective masking in post to keep focus areas consistent might be something to try with a later image. I hope that makes sense.

12 Nov 24 Comment Lisa, I love this - especially the lower left quadrant. The version you have is nice. I would add another version that is cropped to the lower left area. When I zoom in to that area I see so much really cool texture and of course that reflection of the tree in the bottom left drop of water. It's almost a completely different photo. Nov 5th
12 Nov 24 Comment Those lovely curved lines on the tulip are wonderful, and the crop is very creative. I do agree with Ally and Srijan about the bright yellow petal - you never know until you start to play with things, which I did. I reduced the exposure and saturation in the yellow area and added a little red to try to make it blend in. I'm not all that happy with the result, but I'll share it for what it's worth.

12 Nov 24 Reply Thank you Srijan, I agree. When I study the photo I see that horizontal light petal in the center and I do wish the focused area was there instead of on the petals right above it. Nov 5th
12 Nov 24 Reply Thank you Ally! The more I photograph the more I like soft photos also, although sometimes I struggle to tell the difference between soft and just out of focus. Nov 5th
