Its nice to meet you.
I love being in groups of differing backgrounds. I am currently focused in Fine Art, mostly due to completing my degree. I just go and search for beautiful moments this image just shouted at me. I love the study of form similar to Edward Weston and his images of peppers. |

Hello Frans,
A global adjustment could be all you need. The wood that the heron is on is what needed to be brought down in this case, so a global adjustment wouldn't work out too well. |

This is an amazing capture and smart cropping. The time of day was against you for vibrant colors. Still an excellent capture. |

I use a 50mp digital medium format camera. This gives me a lot of information to start with. I shoot my images in color. That way I can decide later if I want to convert the image to B/W.. I have shot enough B/W film to understand how colors appear when you print. The greens of the flowers different leaves would turn a nice rich black when I edited the image. I shot the image with a 120mm Macro lens. The distortion and softness of the background would set the white flower off nicely. Truly keeping the detail and not blowing out the whites of the petals was the most difficult part of the process.
Here is the original image for comparison. |

I quite like the original. It builds a narrative that shows a mothers pride as her chicks mature and attempt things on their own. My only suggestion would be to fill the blurry spot between the chicks. |

There seems to be a bit of distortion around the head of the bird. This is no doubt a difficult image for post production. Do you know the resolution of the image? It could be too low and cause some of the outlines to get fuzzy, or if the image was cropped too tight. I do love how the grasses seem to braid and set the yellow apart from the rest of the image. |

I have not done many wildlife shoots, however the basics are still the same. This seems to be shot mid-day. your highlights are a bit bright. A good way to get around bright natural light is to retouch the vivid colors and shadows that will get bleached out. |

Thank you!
The shallow depth of field and the geometry bring this image together. I love all of the triangles that compose the image. |
