I like what Bev has done with the centre of flower.
It is a good subject and well seen and captured. As I view this image I do not like the shoot going off to the LHS as this is a leading line taking the viewer out of the frame.

I agree with your own comments. The flower is a good subject. In my view the green is overpowering in this image.
Could I please encourage you to learn about focus stacking as then you would have the subject in total focus.
What you have here is the front in focus and little detail in rear of flower. |

Beautiful subject and Bev's extra vibrance is very good. The colours are excellent ie blue/mauve againsta green background.
