24 Sep 23 Reply Thank you Charissa for your comments. In answer to your question -the main focus is on the subject however the entire image is captured in focus stacking at the same time. A selection is made on the main flower and a separate layer made. Resulting in the remainder of the image being darkened using blending modes in PS. Sep 19th
24 Sep 23 Comment Thank you for all your kind comments.
As outlined in my submitting comments, my intention was to encourage all members to consider/continue using focus stacking in capturing images of flowers. My passion for many years has been photographing flowers, and having tried many methods, I have found the most successful has been in photo stacking using a macro lens.
If there are any questions as to how to use or unsure about this system I would love to help.

24 Sep 23 Comment As I view your image Yvonne in my opinion there is very little in focus. You have placed the flower very well in frame.
Would you consider using F8 in a single shot which would give more detail in focus? In my view F3.5 would be a preferred aperture for focus stacking which would result in the flower being in focus.

24 Sep 23 Comment In my view you have captured a very colourful image. The foreground is separated from background which has been well done.
As I view your image the left hand side is not in focus. Would you consider cropping that part of the subject and darkening the background a little? Perhaps consider then adding some contrast to the foreground?

24 Sep 23 Comment Well captured Tom and the peony dominates the frame.
To my eye the background is a distraction to a well in focus subject - would you consider darkening the background?
In my opinion this would give a much better image.

May I ask - why did you use F27? My experience has been using a macro lens the aim is to make the close up in focus with a narrow DOF. F8 would give a much faster shutter speed and more shallow DOF.

24 Sep 23 Comment Fred - Daylilies make a good subject and well done for photographing them.
As I look at this image to my eye the only part in focus are part of the stamen and pistil which make up about 10% of the frame and get lost in the composition.
Would you consider tightening up on your composition resulting in the subject filling a larger portion of the frame?.
If it had been possible could you have included more room on top. In my view the top has insufficient r0om.
Would you also consider focus stacking this type of flower which would result in the subject being totally in focus?

24 Sep 23 Comment Bev - you have captured this flower very well. Well done.

As I look at your image the subject takes up about 50% of the frame and the background over takes the flower.
Would you consider tightening up on the frame and darkening the background resulting in the flower dominating the image?.
My view is that the flower is slightly over enhanced.
