Hey Josh,
Thanks for your comments, I'm glad you liked the image.
The white was mostly because it was a very foggy morning and that sort of set the tone. I just emphasized that in post by cleaning up the buildings (Dehaze) and then adding light and pushing the Whites in the sky area.
I know it looks kind of unreal, but there was nothing cropped out of the original capture, the building on the right is semi-eliptical which gives it that sharp edge from my perspective.
thanks again ... Cheers |

Hi Alan,
A lovely colourful bright image. Well done.
I totaly agree with David's comment about giving the subjects some breathing space on the right. If there was more space there I think it would be more comfortable on the eye, and it would promote the feeling of forward movement.
One thing I would say though is the duck in the front is far sharper and more focused than the one in the rear. Perhaps a slightly wider DoF would have done the trick?
Cheers. |

Hi Peggy,
Great shot, I love the use of the framed composition, it gives such strenth and interest to the image.
If I was to suggest anything, I would increase contrast of the internal walls ( not the scene in the background ) to make the most of the natural weathering of the stone, and to strengthen the frame drawing the viewer's eye into the scene.
Really nice image!

Hi David,
Lovely shot! You have done so well with the exposure to get the highlights in the sky, and yet the forground, mid, and background beautifully lit.
I personally wouldnt crop out any of the structures as I think they form a part of the story, if anything I would take a smidge off the top of the image. Yes it is a beautiful sky, but the blue on the top left draws my eye, and I think a 16:9 crop would make it stronger.
Cheers. |

G'day Josh,
I think Alan and David have said it all ... an image that is special for you and that is what photography is all about.
I would be very happy with myself if I could get a happy, natural shot of my friends like this. Well done.
I also agree with their comments about the background however. I have had a play with the image in Lightroom, I hope you don't mind, and have not only adjusted levels, but done a tighter crop.
Cheers

Hi Craig,
I'm Ok with the background as I don't think it overly draws the eye ( well, mine at least ) but it adds to the effect with supporting colours and textures.
I think it is a strong image with a good story.
The only suggestion I could make is to SLIGHTLY bring out the lettering with a bit more depth and definition.
