Hi Peggy,
I was very fortunate in that the handler held the bird still while photos were being shot, and of course the bird cooperated too. Not the usual case in my experience !

Hi Craig, Love the energy in this shot and think that the bright background and tight crop around the bodies add a lot to the power of it all. The directional light flattens the male's face ( but still highlights his attitude ) while adding contour to the female. Lovely.
There is a slight blowout of white on both faces but would I be right in thinking that was an artistic choice to add strength?
Wish I could do portraiture that well !!

Peggy, a very well exposed capture and nice handling of the colours.
I agree with Alan, in that the viewer can't help but want to see more of that entrance to 'complete' the picture. If you had been able to move a few feet to the left to get the bridge entrance while retaining the length of the bridge, I think you would have a much stronger imnage.
A rule that has been drilled into me over many years is to stop and check all four edges of the frame just before you press the button. It is amazing sometimes how you will suddenly see things that should either be included, as in this case, or excluded. Well worth thinking about as you shoot!
Cheers

David, I agree, nice shot! But I would go one step further than Alan and Craig's suggestions. Yes, open up the shadows on the buildings, but then I would tone down the foreground a little bit as I thing the light coloured grass (?) competes with the sky.
Well captured.

Hi Alan, thanks. It was in fact a bit unnerving, you felt like he was sizing you up for dinner. |
