Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
49 Aug 23 Reply Hi Josh, The image looks stronger and more impactful now, great job ! Would you consider a slight vignette to bring in the eye, and I really think a slight trouch of grain would add to the story. Cheers. Aug 19th
49 Aug 23 Comment Hello Craig, What a great capture of a fun story at the right point in time. They seem to be trying to out-squark each other, and that gives the image a nice balance.
I think the image is cropped well to bring the birds to the fore, but I wonder if it would have been possible to include their feet as it just feels a little chopped off.
I think that perhaps darkening the background foliage as David suggested could also enhance the presence of the main subjects.
A good DOF have the birds in focus and the background soft, nicely done.

49 Aug 23 Comment Hello Alan, Firstly I must say I really like your original image of the church steeple. Interesting subject, good compostition and well exposed.
The bird image certainly has a good visual impact too, perhaps a very slight crop in from the right might empasize this.
You have certainly made a good attempt to bring out the best of the image in post production. But as David has suggested, the image might suffer from incorrect metering and a slightly soft focus to begin with.
I applaud you for trying to catch the bird however, especially as it was an unexpected subject. I know that I have tried in the past to catch birds with very mixed results.

49 Aug 23 Comment Hello David, A striking image with good impact, those sun rays are difficult not to admire. Well seen!
I wonder if it would have been possible to get a little closer to the subject and capture an image of only the three flowers on the right that are showing the most colour, as I don't think the two flowers on the left add anything overall to the image.
I'm very jealous that you got to shoot in such an interesting destination.

49 Aug 23 Comment Hello Josh, Such an atmospheric shot! The cold and mist of the shoot is very appearant.
I agree with Craig in that the image would look great in monochrome and maybe even a touch of grain, I think it would take on a depth that perhaps is being masked by the colours in the image. Perhaps a square crop could be considered too.
A good memory well caught.

49 Aug 23 Comment Hello Owen, I like your shot, it has a lot of energy about it that strikes the viewer immediately. You can almost feel them movement and anticipate the drop that the kyaker is about to have.
I wonder if you were using a high speed burst mode, as I think that if the image has been captured a fraction of a second later, then the kayak tail would not have been chopped off by the rocks, and the main subject would have been placed more centrally in the image.
Great subject to shoot, good colour and well exposed.
