3 Jan 24 Reply Oh! I need to work on my photoshop skills to learn how to match shadows and reflections to a sky replacement. Actually, this was the first time that I had tried it. I need to start a library of skies. Jan 25th
3 Jan 24 Reply Thanks. I do wish that I'd been able to go into the park to catch sunrise or stay for the sunset. The timing didn't work out this trip. Maybe next time. I do wish that I had a light weight tripod that I could pack in my luggage and daypack. That's probably next on my list of things to get. Jan 25th

3 Jan 24 Reply Thanks for the info. Jan 13th
3 Jan 24 Reply Keep Zion on your bucket list. We were there the last week in October. The weather more than made up for the plain skies. Jan 13th
3 Jan 24 Reply So the sky was copied from one of my shots that I took this June in Maine. I think the clouds look a bit out of proportion with the landscape. I've made a note to myself to take more sky only shots in the future. Jan 13th
3 Jan 24 Comment This makes me look forward to our next trip to the California coast. I use the 24-200 most of the time when I am traveling and often wish that I'd brought my other zoom along. I guess that I'm glad to learn that a more experienced photographer does this too. What's your opinion of the 150-600 with the FTZ on the Z9? Jan 11th
3 Jan 24 Comment Wow! Beautiful mountains and a dramatic sky! Jan 11th
3 Jan 24 Comment Nicely done! Jan 11th
3 Jan 24 Reply Oops. Senior moment... Jan 11th
3 Jan 24 Reply Kieu-Hanh. Thanks. I show my first attempt at sky replacement. Note to self: Take shots of the sky in the future to save for sky replacement. I had lots of problems getting good exposure on this trip as there always seemed to be so much difference between the shadows and the highlights. I tried some HDR shots; however, I still had the same issues. On this shot, when I tried to bring up the shadows with a mask over the dark areas, things began to look a bit unnatural. I tried a crop as you suggested, but lost the panoramic effect. Jan 11th
3 Jan 24 Reply David. Thanks. You convinced me to try a sky replacement. See my reply to Kieu-Hanh's comment. Jan 11th
3 Jan 24 Comment David. A great shot of the mushroom. I like the lacy screen texture; however, I'm just not sure about the vertical plants. They seem to take away from the beauty of the mushroom. I will admit that I haven't done much with textures -- just one shot of the PSA Photoshop course. Jan 11th
3 Jan 24 Comment David. I enjoyed your image this month. It reminded me of scenes in rural Virginia from childhood. For that reason, I like your posting more than the tighter crop. It makes the subject the farm or shed and not just the vehicle.
