Thanks Mary Ann for your suggestion. I shot this one quickly with my iPhone at dinner tonight. The figs were our desert. Our tree isn't giving us as many figs this year, and we are eating them as we pick them -- no fig jam this year. Maybe I'll get a chance to really set up the shot. |

Ruth,
Thanks. I like your suggestion and hope that I can set up the shot before the figs are eaten. I must give credit where credit is due -- my wife is the gardener.

Joan,
I am new to the group.
I have a soft spot for pictures of dogs and especially of puppies. Thanks for posting it.
Danville is a lovely town. We enjoyed visiting close friends when they lived there. I'll have to share some of my pictures of San Francisco in the future.

Ruth,
I gave another shot at lightening the head and eye of the gallinule by applying masks in Lightroom and opening up the shadows a bit. To be honest, I don't think that this is any better and is pushing the limits of looking natural. You've done a great job with this one, especially, with the tough light.

LuAnn, the photo triggered a memory of a place we have visited - perhaps the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco. I searched on-line and also photos from our last visit there and couldn't find the scene. Recommended if you are in SF. The Botanical Gardens in the same area are also beautiful. Our older son volunteered in the gardens and was married there this spring. A formal tea ceremony is on our bucket list. Rob |

Thanks LuAnn. This was a quick shot, but I do want to work on still lifes. Always willing to spend some time on YouTube, send the links. I've attached a picture of the inside of the fig. These are brown turkey figs which grow better in our area. Not as common as the black mission figs. |

Ruth,
It's an American purple gallinule according to Google. Tough light, but you've done a great job of bring out the details and coloring. I gave a shot at trying to lighten the face of the bird to bring out the eye; however, my edit ended up looking a bit unnatural. |

You were quite lucky to catch this moment and capture the shot. |

LuAnn,
I lovely shot of the couple framed by the gate. I considered altering the gate by applying a horizontal transform; however, this lost a lot of the dramatic effect of the photo. Where is this Tea House? |
