97 Nov 23 Reply Thanks Jim. I had the D7100 set at:
F9, 1/2500, ISO800, 340mm

I used Lightroom for processing and sharpening.

97 Nov 23 Reply I don't even use a tripod - I find them cumbersome to carry around. But depends on how you manage the weight of your long lens. I have to remind myself to go out regularly, at least a couple of times a month with the big lens to keep being used to it. Nov 6th
97 Nov 23 Reply A learning process all the time, isn't it? I remember when I first had my long lens, it took me 3 weeks to learn to hold it still enough - I kept thinking something was wrong with the lens! But these days, I get some good shots and some ok shots, it's a practice all the time type of thing, isn't it? Nov 4th

97 Nov 23 Comment Where is Point Reyes? That is, what country?

What an amazing looking bird, it's beautiful. Lovely image and well done.

97 Nov 23 Comment Don't you just love it when they turn up like that? What kind of hawk is it?

I love the glint in the eye. Is this shot cropped? I find it a little soft when viewing large and wonder if it could be a bit sharper.

97 Nov 23 Comment Oh, how magic! And I am so envious as we don't have these pink birds at all in Australia. I'd have to travel overseas to see them and, at this stage, highly unlikely for me. I love what you've done, great image and well done. Nov 2nd
97 Nov 23 Reply Thanks Hans - appreciated :-) Nov 2nd
97 Nov 23 Comment Oh what a magic shot! That is always the shot to aim for where I am too. Cormorants are also protected here where I live and so sad that they would be mistreated elsewhere.

I love that you got this amazing shot and, in my eyes, is the perfect one.
