97 Aug 23 Reply Thank you, Jim, appreciated. I've been on a holiday but just got back home today, hence my slow reply. Aug 24th
97 Aug 23 Reply Thank you Kathleen. Birding is my absolute most favourite form of photography so I'm working on it all the time. Aug 8th
97 Aug 23 Comment Thanks Roy, appreciated. I'm afraid I know very little about using PhotoShop but use Lightroom all the time. I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. Aug 8th

97 Aug 23 Reply Thanks Hans, appreciated and I'll keep that in mind for future shots of this type. Aug 8th
97 Aug 23 Reply Oh yes, very close to us, like 10 mins, no more. How about that? Aug 7th
97 Aug 23 Reply Thanks Kathleen. If you're coming to Victoria, let me know - maybe I can show you around my area a bit too, show you kangaroos and wallabies in the wild and show you some of my favourite birding spots too. Definitely black swans. Aug 7th
97 Aug 23 Reply Oh thanks Sylvia. I was surprised to see my image up so quickly. Likewise, I'm going to enjoy seeing everyone else's images too. People call me obsessed over here.

It was someone with a P900 that sold me on this type of camera 3 years ago and I tried theirs out. Then I read reviews at DPReview and learnt about the P950 - very happy with it.

97 Aug 23 Comment I'm now your newest member :-)

I am always surprised to see white swans because, where I live in Australia, swans are black.

I found some of the grass a bit of a distraction too, but also appreciate the comment about a private moment and can see it in that way too.

97 Aug 23 Comment Love the cropped version you've done. I know these birds tend to disappear very quickly under water again so always a challenge to get them like you have achieved. Obviously you got its attention. Aug 7th
97 Aug 23 Comment I love the colours in this shot. Personally I like to do rule of thirds, if I can, for shots like this. I would have made it more like this so the bird is looking into the frame, rather than being more in the middle. I might have also given a bit more up the top if it had been possible at the time. 97 Aug 23 Comment Oh wow, what a great shot. I love it. And amazing looking birds. The wingtips look amazing and I love how you've captured the face and eye of the crane in the front. Love your description about the birdlife there too. Aug 7th
97 Aug 23 Comment Lovely shot and love the water spray from the back legs. Like the others, I would have liked to see more in front of the bird so it wasn't about to fly out of the frame, so to speak. But it is a great shot. I love learning about birds from other countries. Aug 7th
97 Aug 23 Comment Lucky you to see an owl! I long to see one in the daytime - one day!

I've enjoyed reading the comments and what Roy has suggested for editing the image further. I too, would have cropped it in. I use Topaz DeNoise if I find images are too noisy.
