Hmmm...a Wood Duck is also one of our most colorful birds in California, but I will keep looking. Game on! :) |

My trip to Florida was with Denise Ippoito photo workhops. We went to Merrit Island for 3 days and then down to Vero Beach for 3 days where we took short trips to several great birding locations. My leader, Donna, was excellent, and gave us lots of help in the field sharing setting and composition tips. They were full days of shooting, and she was good at getting us to the best places in nice light. I appreciated her help with portraits, birds in flight and long exposures. We had one evening of photo review where she shared how she edits with photoshop. Roseate Spoonbills are now one of my favorite birds too! :) |

Ron, thank you for sharing the different options you use for darkening backgrounds. I have jotted them down as a reference for future images. :)

I like your version! The added denoise, darker background and brighter eye add subtle yet significant improvements. Do you generally darken the background with a brush tool, or maybe selecting and inverting the subject? |

What a beautiful Cedar Waxwing!! The berry in beak is perfect! I really like how Roy gets the eyes to stand out a bit more. The adjustments he used look brighter yet natural. I think I would take out the thin branch on the top right corner, but it is great as is! |

Welcome to our group Peter!! I definitely resonate with sitting in the beauty and calmness of nature. I love your image of the colorful beeeater! The colors of the bird and background make it a work of art. The stick is a nice way to show the bird's flight pattern however I loved the bird so much I tried a closer square crop on it for fun. Just another option. :) |

Wow, talk about capturing the decisive moment! Well done!! I do not think I would put this image on my dining room wall, but National Geographic would pay top dollar for it! :) It is a wonderful behavior shot and I love the blue background in contrast with the Ospreys intense yellow eye. |

Your Oriole is such a brilliant orange! I appreciate your sharing the original as it shows what a great capture it was tucked in the midst of branches. I love its sharp eye and diagonally pointed beak! Great textures too. How did you get such a soft and open background? |
