Wow, I love the vibrant swirly background with the little
Wood duck and reflection. Sometimes surprising proportions look very artistic to me which is the case here. I might lighten the wood duck just a little to bring out more detail. |

I also have photos of woodpeckers on tree bark and love the added interest of vines. The small green leaves nicely complement the woodpeckers stunning red cap. I might remove a few of the vertical 'twigs', especially near its head. Gorgeous image! |

Florida is now on my bucket list! The dark green mangroves are a perfect backdrop for the gorgeous pink birds. The shapes are perfect with the spoonbill taking the lead! Getting this perfect image takes lots of patience, skill, dedication and a little bit of luck!:) Is it possible to focus stack like this in Lightroom? I know I can stitch panos and HDR images. |

You definitely caught the decisive moment!! Really stunning and fun photo. The cormorant's eye looks like an emerald! I too wonder about the water color and how you captured the amazing red reflections? |

I have not mastered birds in flight either, but it's fun trying! :) |

Thanks Roy, for your detailed explanation, very helpful! I've seen similar selective darkening in lightroom tutorials and now will have confidence to give it a try when an image calls for it. |

I love your image of the Red-necked Avocets. The variety of wing positions really give a feeling of movement and the contrast of the blue sky makes for a beautiful image! We have American Avocets in our nearby wetlands. |

Nice shot of the Red-shouldered Hawk. We have them along the American River. I like how it is keeping an eye you! :) I try to wait for them to fly but sometimes they stay still for a very long time! |

I like it! It makes the quail stand out a bit more. Did you mask with the brush to darken it or maybe choose background? I use Lightroom. |
