Thanks for your suggestions Mark.
I was trying to get the centre focussed sharply with a softening as the image widened. I missed the very centre which resulted in my attempt being thwarted.
I shall keep working on these types of images. |

Thanks for all your suggestions Donna, I too, like aloes and other succulents.
A diffuser I have but not with me at the time. And I have a macro lens but also not with me at the time. The F-stop point from both you and Mark I take on board. At the time I was trying to have sharp focus in the centre with a gradual softening as the image widened. Clearly not successfully because I missed the very centre.
I shall keep working on these types of images. |

Thanks for taking the trouble to comment Rich. And I echo Donna's wish for a good outcome for your medical issue. |

Thanks for your suggestion Doug. I have a few shots but the angle is similar because of the growth around it restricting my PoV. |

I'd like to know more about the building Rich.
Clearly it caught your eye but your image does not really tell the viewer why. Is it the blue centre bottom or the rows and rows of floor levels or something else completely? It impressed you enough to take the shot but leaves me as viewer wondering what the main subject is.

Helicon does a good job as did you for this image Doug.
The flower is nicely clear and crisp thanks to your stacking and the black background offsets it nicely. |

I like a slow shutter speed with moving water and your composition is good Donna, with the water leading the viewer from top to bottom of the frame and foreground, midground and back ground all in focus to keep the viewer engaged.
The only thing I would consider is a faster shutter speed so that the water is not so smooth. This is a personal thing of course but I prefer to see more of the actual water flowing even though it will still be smoothed out. |
