I get your point Donna. It was the shape of the tree and its reflection that caught my eye along with the green and yellow colours that offset the whiteness of the tree. The embankment and the actual tree (not the reflection) could definitely benefit from toning down. I will work on that. Thanks for your suggestion. |

Hi Peter - a lovely capture.
My eye wants to see more depth of colour in the foreground green and the golden yellow of the tree - the background to stay muted.
Perhaps square crop it too to make the tree the absolute centre of attention. You will lose those far background mountains on the left but the sky above them is plain. The rest of the clouds directly above the tree are more interesting and in my opinion only, add interest to the image. |

Effective Mark. I like the waviness of the reflections. I wonder what it would look like in black and white with high contrast. Or perhaps even amping up the graininess.
Well spotted. |

I like this image Doug and agree it looks good when you can see individual blossoms. So effective.
I like the submitted image best because it crops out a light spot towards the top right hand corner making the colour consistent throughout. |

Hi Donna, how exciting to be in Tanzania and photograph these beautiful creatures in the wild.
I've noticed from previous submissions of yours that you have some decent Photoshop skills. I'm wondering if you can blur the background behind the zebras some more. It is distracting me from the zebras and if you can, I think it will make the image stronger. |

Thanks Doug, I like your crop better too. Interesting how we sometimes can't see it for ourselves. |

Well seen Napoleon. The vacant spot draws my eye.
I've just realised there are boats in a row behind as well. It is an image which with longer viewing, reveals more.
I'd think about removing the tree branches bottom left. They distract from the well captured lines of boats.
An image which has me wanting to know more about it. |

I like a good architecture photo Howard.
I wonder what it would look like with the trees on the bottom cropped out so that it is pure building.
The reflections in the glass windows on the right hand side draw my eye - in a positive way. |

Gorgeous sunset colours (or was it sunrise?) Bob.
The elephant silhouette makes it.
It may be just me but if you are skilled enough with Photoshop or another editing tool (I'm not) it would be great to remove some of the grasses in the foreground so that the elephant legs in silhouette are not blocked. |

Gorgeous bird colours Peter and the background is beautifully blurred.
I wonder if you would consider cropping the image so that the bird fills more of the frame. I'm not sure the reeds on the right add anything to the overall image.
I have tried it out and attach it here after also removing some distracting reeds behind the blackbird. |
