10 Feb 24 Comment Peter - your image goes to show that viewers can and most often do, make up their own story when viewing an image.
I like this image - the cheeky look on the right guy's face and the serious look on the face of the guy on the left.
It could have been that cheeky guy was willing to pose for a photo and serious guy was not.
Before reading your explanation, I wondered what was going on with them on what seemed to be a blustery day on a beach. Hurricanes are considerably more than blustery so how wrong I was on that observation!
The bright yellow jacket lifts the whole image from quite muted to one that catches the viewer's interest.

10 Feb 24 Comment Quite spectactular Rich. It looks like you were right on top of the wave.
I keep wanting to remove the dark distraction at centre right so that the wave completely dominates. And perhaps deepen the blues slightly to get more contrast with the incredible power of the white water.
I'm curious to know what shutter speed were you using and whether you were you shooting in burst mode.

10 Feb 24 Comment Delicate and pretty Doug.
I like how those little hairs on the stems and buds are visible even though the overall image has a hazy quality to it. Your background treatment has worked well too.
Lensbaby's must be fun to work with. I may have to do some research:)

10 Feb 24 Comment This is a gorgeous image Donna and your choice of bloom is perfect for a black and white shot with the contrast between dark and light.
I wonder what it would look like with the contrast amped up slightly, particularly on the flower itself.
The lighting is most attractive and goes to show that you don't need photography specific gear to produce fabulous work.

10 Feb 24 Comment Thanks for your comments Donna.
I would have made it more horizontal but the scene at each side was not so attractive.
I have now cropped more horizontally without expanding the sides and attach the image here. I takes away the glow of the water but provides another perspective.

37 Feb 24 Reply Thanks for your suggestions Howard. I do like what you have done. Funny how it took someone else to make the suggestions and apply them to the image for me to see it.
Definitely a benefit of being in a study group!

37 Feb 24 Comment What a great image Napoleon.
Your subject is looking direct at the camera and the softbox has meant that the colour rendition and clarity is perfect for a portrait.

37 Feb 24 Comment Lovely capture Howard.
The wing and body detail are nice and clear. The head, including the eye and neck are slightly soft and it would be great if these were crisp and clear too. You may have eye tracking on you camera and if so, it could help with this.

37 Feb 24 Comment I like that you have cropped in close and can see the dancers looking at each other Bob.
Your work on the white dress has been successful.
Their skin seems to me to be blotchy and a little too pink. That may have been the lighting but if you can work your magic on the skin tones in the way you did with the dress, I suspect it would be a more realistic image.
Well seen and captured.

37 Feb 24 Comment A good action shot Delian.
I particularly like the left runner's hair flowing out behind. You could even crop to include just this runner as her stance is more interesting (in my view), which I tried and attach here.
Please stick with what you prefer, this is just a suggestion and my thoughts only.

37 Feb 24 Comment Hi Peter, what a beautiful bird. Its wing display is most attractive.
I wondered what it would be like if it took up more of the frame and so cropped it to see. I have added it here and think I prefer to see more of the bird which is so beautiful and less of the background.
Your intent may have been to give a size perspective against the huge tree trunks and if that is the case, then disregard my comment.
Great image either way.
