Thanks Doug, glad you like it. I checked the grass in my RAW file of the image and it is a grey green (cloudy day, winter here) and even the runners that have grown over the base were the grey that is in the edited image. The grass seems to know it is in an ageing place and shouldn't be too bright:) |

Thanks Donna. I do have a tendency to darken a little when editing and it is good to have someone else's view. I appreciate you taking the time to do another edit which does make a positive difference. |

You have a dramatic landscape here Rich, with a good structure of foreground, mid ground and back ground to take the viewer through the image and show good depth of field.
The focus seems soft in the foreground and mid ground and would benefit I think, from being sharper here. Perhaps try using a tripod if you did not, or using manual focus so that you can be sure of what is in focus. The hills in the background are affected by a natural haze which is normal on a sunny day and with them so far away.
I really like those rich orange-red colours complemented by the green of the desert plants and you have placed the rock monuments well in the frame.
Great work. |

An interesting and unusual image Doug. And what fun it must be to play with a taleidoscope when creating.
I like the pinks and greens of the caladiums and even though they are soft, there is enough definition for me to recognise the leaves.
My brain can't seem to work out the white/cream forms and even though it's an abstract image and because those lighter coloured forms dominate, my brain keeps trying. I wonder if they were softer, whether that would make a difference to the overall impression this image first makes.
If your intention was to have the viewer guessing what this really is, I think you have succeeded well even though you gave us information about it. |

This is such a pretty image Diana. I have never used a lens baby but am tempted after viewing this.
The clarity graduating out to a beautiful softness makes it so ethereal and your choice of colour from the flower itself for the vignette, brings it all together in a charming image.
There is nothing I would change about this.

You certainly did have good seats Mark giving an uninterrupted view straight through to the horse and player.
A very fast shutter speed has kept the image sharp whilst freezing interesting action.
Three of the horses hooves off the ground, the ball also off the ground by the one hoof that is still on the ground, its tail almost horizontal and the polo stick held aloft on the diagonal, makes for a catching image that the viewer can spend time to take in all that is in it.
A bright, sunny day as well with the subsequent shadows and clear colours, makes for an engaging image overall. A moderately blurred background keeps the viewer in the main game.
Your light touch with the editing is all that was needed for this image. Well done! |

Hi Donna,
I really enjoy the colour image here, with the green car and pink doll outfit being complementary to each other.
The black and white image however, tends to keep some of the busy-ness in the background less noticeable.
The shine of the car/s in both images is well captured by you and tells us as viewers, how much TLC their owners lavish on them. The doll adds a quirkiness.
Would you consider removing both the sign in the V of the tree trunks and the white barrier to the right of the image, to minimise the some of the background distractions? It would help keep focus on the car.
It is difficult to get a 'clean shot' in such situations but you have captured the essence of the show well. |
