Hi and thanks so much! These tulips were just so beautifully 'warped', I guess from having been wrapped in cellophane for so long.... Anyway...
Yes, I have tried flowers in ice but with limited success. I only have a small freezer which is usually too full to add in a tray of ice, but I would like to do more when a half empty freezer and some suitable flowers coincide. I am sure there is potential there! Have you??? |

Thanks. And please be nitpicky - I'd rather know from here than submit to a competition and then....! :) |

An unusual point of view! Is the image HDR by any chance? I do find it a bit 'harsh' in its processing for my taste, and for me it makes it rather unreal. There may also be a bit of a darker shadow around the top of the 'middle mast'? You might want to check.
The blacks are VERY black - not sure to what extent that matters. I'd raise the shadows, though, quite a lot. Just my thoughts.... |

Nice shot - but not the ideal light, was it, which is a shame. I agree with Hoshedar that mono is a better option here - it reduces the effect of that really bright area and a touch of curves adjustment can bring out better contrast. I'd also crop out some of that rather unexciting sky. (I also added a tiny bit of extra darkening to the top of the sky with a gradient. See what you think.... |

A very good attempt - better than I have ever achieved! But I notice you clearly had to tinker a bit in photoshop with blur - between the saddle and the handlebars it is possible to see the original which is a shame. Apart from all else I fancy it has done something strange to the guy's face (though at this size I can't be 100% sure). A touch of the Adamski effect maybe. But a good try, all the same! |

Looks like a lovely place for a break in nature! I'd crop in a bit closer though - better matches Rule of Thirds I fancy, and creates a great leading line. Nice starburst! To add a bit of 'pop', try duplicating the final image in photoshop (or whatever), putting it in Soft light blend mode and reducing to about 50% opacity can often make a big difference - that's what I did here! |

Lovely image- perfect symmetry - and to me gives the feeeling of this vast, empty space. Only minor thing? There is a small patch towards the far end where the whites are blown out - but otherwise very well handled! Sharp too! Nice. |

I like the sky - it balances the 'ground'at the bottom. But I find the colours rather odd on my computer - very green/yellow -so I've tinkered a bit. The people highlight the scale of the place which is nice. |

In answer to your questions - this was, in fact, two images of the tulips (to get both the backlit effect and the true colour of the flowers) on a lightbox - then merged. The images didn't quite line up despite the camera being on a tripod but I just liked the effect of extra 'movement'. Maybe to others it just looks blurry though.....hmmmmmm! 1/10 sec, iso 200, f10.Metering will have been centreweighted and, using Aperture Priority mode I'd've adjusted exposure compensation to get the 2 different shots. Hope that helps! :) |
