Cindy this is a great photo, good color and spot on focus. I felt that the plant was a little too crowded at the edge of the photo and I added an inverse radial gradient to darken around the plant and bring attention to the interesting end of the plant. |

Thanks for the comments. This is the second Heron I have caught with a Puffer fish. The great thing is that they take so long to figure out what to do with it. The first Heron gave up after an half hour. |

Thats what is so interesting about post-production, you can do so many things that change the story. |

What a great image of the bird's eyes, beak and mouth. The facial feathers all giving leading lines to the above. I think I am about to loose a finger! Background came out well. Great job. |

I liked the bird's focus and cropped and darked Butch's edit some more. Nice photo |

Great shot Peter, I think Butch's VF added to what was already a wonderful photograph. |

Thanks everyone for your comments. The feathers do have some effect from the Little Blue Heron putting its head in the water. Butch, am I converting you to partial birds?? I struggle with all my bird photographs to tell a story with the whole animal, which is easy for birds in flight. But while feeding, the pray is usally too small to get the prey details unless you crop the bird. As in your photo this month, I feel like this is the last vision I, the meal, will see! |
