Excellent photograph of a Black Skimmer. It is hard to get their dark eyes which you accomplished well. It also adds a lot to get the fish eye. On my monoter, the whites look a little blown out. I sumetimes lower the high lights or use a highly feathered brush to mask the white areas, then slightly lower the exposure. Great job. |

Kathleen, very nice photograph of the Stilts and a good job with the DOF. Being fortunate in
having a lot of opportunities to photograph these birds in a nearby wetland, I have found that if you can get into a position with the birds eyes exactly perpendicular to the sun, you get their bright red eyes. |

I can almost feel the warm sun on Wren's back! I tend to crop in on many photographs, to bring out more detail of the subject. |

Excellent photograph, focus, color, intrest, all there. I did find the second branch distracting. If permitted, A one minute photoshop fix. |

Butch, first of all, a great photograph with a strong visual story. I have photographed many times at the Aligator Farm and although there are hundreds of birds, I think it is one of the most difficut photo enviorments. There are palm tree fronds everywhere, distracting from the subjects. There are lots of back light bright spots comming through the trees, not to mention white birds in the background.
I thought, being the "crop guy", maybe focusing in on the birds would remove some of the distracting stuff.
On another note I am not sure why the 3 chicks each has a different shade head (blue, yellow, orange), just curious. Speaking of color, I am always amazed at the bright orange of the Snowy Egrets lores, they do not seem natural (they are!). I really enjoyed discussing a photograph that I have often struggled with! |
