97 Nov 24 Reply I understand, every time I submit a contest picture, I read the rules and with them in mind start over from a raw photograph. Nov 12th
97 Nov 24 Reply I can see that it might look hazy, but I think it is just the color of the feathers, it was a clear day and about 40 feet away Nov 12th
97 Nov 24 Reply I agree with you. coming up with a new perspective of a well photographed subject is daunting. We have a few Bald Eagles around here, but getting a unique shot has proven to be very elusive. BTY I like the eye catch just below the wing. Nov 10th
97 Nov 24 Comment Butch after all that work, I hesitate to comment. I have trouble with one flash! I did think it might look a little better if it was less beesy. Nov 10th
97 Nov 24 Comment Great photo, In focus and nice crop. This could be the "before" photo of mine this month! Nov 10th
97 Nov 24 Reply A very succinct lesson for great photography! I did copy it as a reminder while reviewing my photos. And I just kicked Tabby out of the house and am looking for a tiger:)! Nov 10th
97 Nov 24 Reply Butch, you are right on. I have only been into photography for 6 years but have quit trying to "think like a judge" and instead focus more on education and entertainment (WOW) This photo (rear shot of a spoonbill) for example got selected by a local Audubon Society Calender. 97 Nov 24 Reply Julia and Butch, I realize that by cropping the wings That the overall bird in flight picture is disrupted. However, in many cases I like to bring attention to (and a larger image of) what I consider the most interesting part of the photograph. Like this Royal Tern for example. Nov 10th
97 Nov 24 Reply Yes, the Army sent me there for the school. Nov 10th
97 Nov 24 Reply Thanks Butch, I appreciate your comments, I cannot improve without critical reviews. I do tend to push the creative side of my images and crops, and I agree with your comments. Yes our sky was that blue!

PS, I did fly with the Navy for a year, in 1976 @ Patuxent River.

97 Nov 24 Comment The backlighting really gives this photograph a great look. I thought darkening the background would enhance the look. Nov 6th
97 Nov 24 Comment Very nice photo, I really enjoy watching the Reddish Egrets chasing their dinner! Nov 6th
97 Nov 24 Comment Great photo! I thought darkening and removing stuff in the background and lightening the bird would bring out a little more detail. Nov 6th
97 Nov 24 Comment Sometimes a good crop can bring out interesting features of a subject. Nov 6th
