https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fgj8bMviZOw This video shows the monopod system I use and it works great. But I like the camera mounted on the right so I can adjust the pivot knob with my left hand. It allows me to carry my camera effortlessly over my shoulder. Also, I walk with the monopod leg extended so I can slightly squat put the leg on the ground and have the camera ready to shoot in a few seconds. I also have a cord loop from the lens handle around my neck for insurance against dropping my gear! Let me know if you have any questions. Where in Florida?? |

Thanks for the compliment. My lens is light for its size and can be handheld, but I use a mono pod which works great and allows for lots of movement of the lens |

Yes the 800mm lens (f 6.3) has a DOF of 4 ft at 150 feet out, so I had to blur the reeds in front |

I could not add anything to Jim's comments, great photograph. Goes to show you that you have to spend a lot of time out with your camera to find these great shots. |

Great shot, I like conditions that allow for reflections. I might suggest a little cropping and lighten the exposure. |

Great catch! I sometimes crop to give more emphasis to the details of the bird. Not necessarily better, just different. |

Great shot, the wings and eye really make the photograph. I prefer to lose the bird feeder and I adjusted the background exposure a little |

Great colors. Did the feathers have white outlines or was this image sharpened? I cropped and brought down the highlights a little to see how it might compare. I am spoiled. we have pelicans (brown all year, white all winter) all around our Condo.
