11 Mar 26 Reply Thanks, Murphy. It sounds like you've been to Longwood Gardens. Anyone who hasn't been there and can get there would certainly enjoy it. If you enjoy photographing flowers and plants, it's the place to go. Mar 17th
11 Mar 26 Comment Thanks, Ed. Not a bad idea to remove the partial fountains. Thanks. Mar 16th
11 Mar 26 Reply Thanks for the suggestion, Henry. I just lightened it a bit (Dodge tool at 12% opacity) and it does make the building stand out more. Mar 15th
11 Mar 26 Comment Thanks, Sheldon. The symmetry is off because I didn't pay close attention when I shot the image. I was staanding a bit too far to the left. Mar 10th
11 Mar 26 Comment Henry: The bristlecone pines make great subjects to photograph. Your crop works well with this image. I think the exposure is correct for this image. It brings out the texture and detail of the tree nicely. I wouldn't change the tonality of the tree, but I would darken the sky more. This would make the tree stand out even more. My preference in mono conversions is make a really dark sky, although I realize not everyone likes that approach. Mar 5th
11 Mar 26 Comment A great capture, Sheldon. The image is sharp, has good tonality, and a lot of texture. You've picked just the right point of view looking down the center of the "tunnel" of trees. My only suggestion would be to darken the tree branches a bit so that your eye is more easily led down the middle of the image. Mar 5th
11 Mar 26 Comment Hi Murphy: I think this subject is a fine candidate for a monochrome conversion. It's very graphic. You've done a good job of maintaining sharpness throughout the image, and the composition works well. I can't see anything that I would change in this imaage. Mar 5th
11 Mar 26 Comment Peter: I think the scene was well worth photographing. I do think something in the processing resulted in a problem with the sky. You might even consider cropping about 25% off the top and make the image more of a panoramic. Mar 5th
11 Mar 26 Comment Hi Ed: I think the mono conversion worked well; a lot of nice tonality in the image. The image appears to be sharp throughout, and the verticals are straight and not tilted. Personally, I don't think the fog helps the image. The architecture in that image is really impressive. I can see many great details to photograph, especially in the darker buildimg in the foreground. Mar 5th

42 Mar 26 Reply Thanks for the compliment, Keith. Mar 29th
42 Mar 26 Reply Michael, I like your version of my rose better than my own. Mar 10th
42 Mar 26 Reply Thanks, Tom. Actually, the water drops are natural. I went out in the yard after an early morning rain and shot this image. Mar 10th
42 Mar 26 Comment Great image, Terry. The exposure is perfect, especially since the animal is coming out of shadow into the sunlight. The texture and the expression really make this a stunning image. The composition is perfect for this shot. If anything, (and this is a minor issue), I'd do something with that blue element on the left. Maybe darken it, or even make it black like the area on the opposite side. Really nice image. I'm sure the owners are thrilled with it. Mar 8th
42 Mar 26 Comment I think the person sitting on the picnic table adds an interesting element to the image. The image does look a bit over saturated. I think I'd remove that thing that looks like a hose reel in the bottom right-hand corner. Mar 8th
42 Mar 26 Reply Thanks, Terry. Now that I look at it, I tend to agree with you on that. Mar 8th
42 Mar 26 Comment The framing of the tower is interesting, Tom. The image is a little flat, probably due to the overcast conditions. You might want to try to bring a bit more detail into the clouds; some of them are rather bright. I think your crop works well with this image. Mar 3rd
42 Mar 26 Comment This is a nice portrait, Tom. You have a nice hair light on her that is just the right intensity. The overall lighting is very flattering; soft with just a bit of modeling. Probably the most important part of the portrait, in my opinion, is the expression. She has a very nice smile that doesn't look forced. I'm not fond of her ring finger going under her chin, but that's a minor thing. Mar 3rd
42 Mar 26 Comment Nice shot, Michael. It's nice to have all the horses facing the camera. Nice detail in the foreground snow. I might look to crop further from the top. The trees take uo half of the image and I think the primary subject (horses) should take up the majority of the frame. I've seen many images of the horses running through water, but this is the first that I've seen in the snow. Really nice image. Mar 3rd
42 Mar 26 Comment Sharlana: I agree with Michael. The motion blur shouldnt' be on the ground, but only the background. And I think it would look better if it were not so severe. You're exposure is on the mark. You can see the rider's face and it helps being able to see all four of the horse's legs. I often see animal photos where one leg is directle behind another and it looks like the animal has only three legs. (A town just outside of Buffalo holds a rodeo every Saturday evening during the summer, so I have the opportunity to acquire a lot of rodeo shots.) Really nice capture. Mar 3rd
42 Mar 26 Reply Hi Michael. Thanks for your comments. The highlights don't appear too bright on my monitor, but your comment on the shadows made me look closer at the image. I said in my description that I selected the flower and put it on a black background. I was wrong about that. I just darkened the background. I shot the flower and processed it early last summer, so I don't remember everything about how I processed it. Mar 2nd
42 Mar 26 Reply Thanks, Sharlana. Glad you like it. Mar 2nd
