I'm at a loss for this one, Jim. But I am curious to know how you kept the sun from rendering as a pure white ball. I like the color of it. |

Thanks, Stuart. They are going rather fast. I did bring the glare down after this was posted. |

Thanks, Michael. I agree that the highlights are a bit "hot". |

Hi Susan,
The actual image is not soft. I did use Topaz to sharpen it. When I submitted it the image was too large. Stu resized it. I need to be more diligent when I resize my images. But, thanks for the aadvice. |

Nice portrait of the heron, Tom. Good detail in the bird and a nice composition. I like your choice of monochrome. We don't often see these birds presented in monochrome. |

Stu,
Great nature image Stuart. Nice background. It's colorful, but not distracting. The position of the bee at 10 o'clock is perfect. Color and sharpness are spot on. There's nothing I would change with this image. The only thing I would do is print it large, frame it, and hang it on the wall for others to enjoy. |

Nice job balancing the exposure on the underside of the wings and the sky. Nice and sharp throughout, even the wing tips which, as you probably know, often times show a bit of movement . Your exposure on the bird is excellent; no hot spots in the white feathers. And the composition is very pleasing. |

Susan,
A really nice image with, as you said, a lot of mystery to it. Good use of the boardwalk as a leading line into the image. Your use of f/11 has kept the image sharp throughout. If this were my image I might try to lighten that straight part of the boardwalk. It would be nice if that branch and the leaves above it in the top right-hand corner weren't so bright. |

Sharlana,
I like the subject matter. Some camera club members and I have gone to a couple and have obtained some interesting images. I feel that your image is showing more of the surrounding growth than the old car. I think the car is the main subject, so I feel it should dominate the image rather than the growth around it. The image has good sharpness, color, and exposure. |

That's an interesting and commendable Task you've undertaken. I'm sure many friends and relatives of the deceased appreciate it. Your image looks good in the panoramic format. I do think however, that the hay bale is a bit bright and I think you could use a bit more shadow detail in the tractor. You might consider cropping more off the bottom. Compositionally, I think an image looks better if the amount of sky and foreground are not equal. That is to say the "horizon" does not divide the image in half. |

Thanks, Sharlana, and I agree. I don't think a polarizer filter would have eliminated it since the sun's direction was from above and front. |
