That sounds like it was a great trip, Tom. The image is sharp with nice color. The trees in the foreground could stand more detail; they're a bit blocked up. I might also suggest trying a bit of a crop on the water. Although it looks good, I think there's too much water. |

Smoke images like yours are always interesting to me. (I did some years ago; I need to try them again.) My only suggestions: there's a bit too much smoke and you might consider having the match or incense stick on a bit of a diagonal instead of straight up and down. The lighting and exposure are really good. |

Holly, I tool your suggestion and lightened the peppers a bit and I have to agree with you: the image looks better. Thanks! |

I t looks like you were going for a symmetrical composition with this shot and that's most appropriate for this building. I think your camera position wanted to be a bit more to the right so that the center flagpole would have lined up with the center of the building. I'm pretty sure it was constructed that way. As it stands, I'd crop a bit from the right-hand side so that there is the same amount in the frame between the edge of the roof on the left as there is on the right. I think the exposure was well handled. My preference is to use a polarizer to saturate the sky a bit, but at the 24mm focal length you'd most likely get an uneven tone in the sky. I'd also remove the two white flare spots in the sky. |

It was a tough decision: eat them while they were still fresh or let them get wrinkled and photograph them. Photography won out. |

Thanks Holly. I appreciate your comments. I thought about making it lighter, but I like the darker image. I tend to lean toward the low key images except when i makean obvious high key image. |

Unfortunately, your image is appearing very blurry on the screen, but I do get a better impression of it from the thumbnail. I think the four layers of color make for a rather artistic image. I think you got a nice balance of foreground to sky in this image. |

The image is nice and sharp, and the colors are great. It's unfortunate that the raft riders aren't looking toward their left so that you can see their faces (not something under your control). The crop works well. I might suggest burning in the rocks on the shore if possible. And maybe a little more room on the right side of the image so the raft isn't so close to the edge of the frame. |

Hi Jim-That's a nice shot of a vey interesting subject. Personally, I don't find the reflected colors in the water competing with the duck, but I'd crop the image much tighter if you can so that there is more emphasis on the duck and less on the water. |
