Thank you, Peter. Sometimes it's just about being in the right place at the right time. That's the beauty of an iPhone. If I had to pull out my DSLR, the image would have floated away with the next ripple of wind. |

Thank you for your compliment, Judy. Much appreciated. No AI needed, just an open mind and receptivity to whatever Nature brings my way. Best to you in the new year. |

Thank you, Sherry. I like the analogy to Nature's ICM. I'll keep that in mind. Photography is about the experience and connection with nature after all, isn't it. So come what may in 2026. Happy New Year. |

Thank you, Sarita. I've been shooting more abstract images of late. I don't know why, although with this image I was limited to the capabilities of my iPhone. No tundra swans yet, but I'm going to a photo workshop this Saturday on migratory waterfowl at a nearby nature preserve. Happy New Year to you, too! |

Love this shot, Leslie. A very nice wildlife portrait. Crisp focus and detail on both the antlers and the moose's coat. Never seen one up close like this, but you seem to have (or had) access to moose habitat in Colorado. I agree, though, that since this moose is such a large critter, a bit more space around it would be helpful. Still a very excellent image. |

Very nice, Judy. I think this is an outstanding wildlife portrait. A very balanced composition with just enough background. Exposure and focus are right on. Those eyes! I've never been to Africa, so please do share more of your shots from there. Your cat will forgive you. |

I didn't even notice the spots in this image at first glance. What struck me immediately is how beautiful the image is. A clean, crisp composition with those beautiful pastels Judy noted. There's also a stillness your image communicates. I can just imagine this bird delicately making it way through to water. Excellent photo! |

Not too busy at all for me, Peter, but I have a landscape bias. In fact, I think capturing all the disparate elements of being in Antarctica really comes through for me in your image. I especially like the richness in the reflection of the clouds and sky. That deep blue just looks stunning (and cold), which is what Antarctica should feel like in my mind. No penguins required. Good job. |

Very nice, Sarita. Pelicans are my favorite bird. We don't see many of the white pelicans in California. Once in a while in the Yolo Bypass between Sacramento and Davis, especially when the floodwaters are out there. I am impressed with how crisp the detail is in the wings of these birds. Just outstanding! Your fast shutter speed probably helped, as did using a sharp 500 mm prime. A little more breathing space on the right side of the frame might have helped, but what you have shared is excellent as it is. Good job! |

Nice action shot of this egret in flight, Sherry. Nice job of managing a contrasty scene in post processing, too. As the others have indicated, I really appreciate you sharing some processing tips and new approaches. My technique continues to evolve and I'll check out the adaptive color option. I've used the auto option as a starting point, as well, but this AI-powered approach sounds better. I'll look into it. What I usually do is set my profile first and select a camera-matching option (frequently landscape). I then set the white balance (frequently the daylight preset but not always). I then adjust my white point and black point to establish the proper tonal range for the image. On my Mac, I select the option key while I'm making this adjustment to see visually how the image is affected. I've been happy with the results using this process. Then I go about making other adjustments as needed, frequently bringing the highlights down a lot. This may be more information than you want or need, but I thought I'd share anyway. I always like your bird shots! |
