Thank you, Sarita. I'm glad you and the others liked my image so much. I'll take your advice (and Sherry's) and frame it. |

Thank you, Gwen. I'm glad you like this image. I was trying to create a sense of serenity with a bit of mystery thrown in for good measure. |

Thanks for the compliment, Judy. I wasn't quite sure how the group would respond to this image since it's definitely a departure from the more traditional, representative images that are more common. I like experimenting with new techniques. And, yes, I know about the Tevis Cup. I'm not a horse person but that race and the Western States Endurance Run footrace. Those people are crazy. Sadly, Tahoe isn't what it used to be. I agree with you that the region has gotten far too commercialized--and expensive! My grandmother, a school teacher, bought a summer home at Fallen Leaf Lake in the Tahoe basin back in the 1950s. I spent every summer of my formative years up there. I'm grateful for those days. It's a different world up there now. |

Thank you, Sherry. Don't give up on ICM. My first attempts at it were frustrating as well. But I've learned from a number of accomplished photographers who have this down to a fine art. I view ICM as another tool in the camera bag. This might have been a fairly ordinary (i.e. boring) shot if I hadn't stretched a bit. A good resource for me has been My Photo Club, which has a weekly talk on Zoom. A number of speakers have shared their ICM approach. I encourage you to check it out. They're actually based in the UK and their weekly talks are at 7 in the evening there, which is 11 a.m. PST. |

Right time, right place, Leslie. Just a beautiful shot. Good thing you turned around. That's advice I frequently get from other photographers. You found the pot of gold in your viewfinder! Great way to start the new year. |

I agree with everyone else's comments. I really like the B&W treatment and the vignetting but maybe dial it back out a bit so as not to obscure the tail feathers. The crisp detail in the wings is really what makes this image work so well in black and white. Good decision and an excellent image, Judy! |

I agree with the other comments. You really nailed the moment and I just love the expressions on the monkeys. Tells a great story and I like the way you didn't crop out too much of the background. What would elevate this shot, in my opinion, is more contrast. I'd experiment with several different sliders in Adobe Camera RAW first. Contrast, highlight, shadows and also the dehaze slider. That last one has provided some agreeable results for me in the past with some images. Very nice, Peter. |

Beautiful shot, Sarita. I didn't realize that the Sandhill Cranes visited areas east of the Mississippi. But all the other members of this group know their birds much better than I do. I like the way you lightened up the birds. I agree with Gwen's comment about darkening the background a bit more. Very nice work. |

I, too, thought this was a Mallard at first glance. Regardless, it's a beautiful action shot with vivid colors, tack sharp detail and nice background bokeh. Very nice, Sherry. Kudos for your patience and persistence in sifting though all those shots! |
