94 Jan 24 Reply Peter, Here's a link to Adobe Creative Cloud's how to select a sky with a mask: https://creativecloud.adobe.com/discover/article/how-to-select-a-subject-or-a-sky-in-lightroom. I suggest you create a mask for the sky, then invert--in effect selecting the landscape portion of your image. You may need to add and/or subtract some of your selection to accommodate the trees on the ridge. But then you will be able to make whatever adjustments you need to affect only the landscape portion. BTW, good for you for submitting a landscape photo. Now I don't feel like the only one! Hope this helps.--John

94 Jan 24 Comment Leslie, Certainly an enthralling moment for you with a herd of elephants at somewhat close range (i.e. 70mm). I think your composition would have been stronger if you had focused on the one dominant elephant in the foreground, used a wider aperture opening to blur the background and cropped out the sky. Not sure what to do about the other elephant in the background on the right. Of course, I wasn't there and you can't set direct subjects like this to pose for a clean composition. Nonetheless, I like this photo because it's real and captures well the moment you experienced. Jan 5th
94 Jan 24 Comment Peter, A nice photo. Inviting composition with the ethereal mist in the valley drawing the viewer in to the photograph. Nice color in the sky, too, but the landscape really needs more vitality. This part of the image looks flat to me. I suggest creating a mask and increasing exposure, adding some vibrance and contrast. That would create more balance with the morning sky. A beautiful location I would like to visit some day. Jan 5th
94 Jan 24 Comment I agree with Leslie. This is an outstanding photo. Can't think of anything I'd suggest to improve it. Beautiful composition. I especially like your background, with enough detail to suggest the environment in an ethereal way yet nothing to take away from your primary subject, a bird I've never heard of before. Crisp and clear focus on your subject. Nice colors. Print it! Jan 5th
94 Jan 24 Comment Sherry, This is a perfect photograph. Outstanding composition with three elements in sharp focus creates a nice balance with the soft background. Hummingbird a really nice subject. Technical choices all spot on to create your desired effect. Love the detail in the hummingbird, especially the wings. I hope you make some prints and share this with other. Very nice.Looks like you had a successful trip to Costa Rica. Jan 5th
