94 Aug 23 Comment Hi Sherry, No, you did not mix up the images. My apologies for not making things clearer in how I labeled them. Going forward, I will do as you suggested and title the original shot as "original." Keep it simple, right? As far as the image itself is concerned, please take a look at the adjustments I made in Camera RAW as described above. I did change the profile to Adobe Landscape I suspect that shifted the color of the flower and the background somewhat. Also, I added exposure almost a half stop because the original seemed a little dark. I could see the colors shift in the histogram when I did this. I think adding vibrance also probably affected the colors. I welcome additional feedback on how any of you in the group would have handled this differently and any experiences you may have had in the past. Thanks.--John Aug 14th
94 Aug 23 Comment Nice shot, Peter. You nailed the expression on that moose. In Yellowstone, which I have yet to see, I imagine the wildlife gets used to people--except for the grizzlies! Aug 12th

94 Aug 23 Comment Hi Leslie, Very nice shot. Yes, it's too hot everywhere these days! I like the squiggly lines in the foreground also, but a tighter crop would give more attention to your subject. Another advantage would be seeing the bear's color reflected in the water better and also more attention to its expressions. Just a thought. Love your shot. Must have been exciting to be there. We don't see many bears in Sacramento! Aug 9th
94 Aug 23 Comment Judy, This is a marvelous photo. I wouldn't change a thing except to print it, mat it and frame it. Beautiful. Most of you seem to be pretty big birders, which is great. I'm learning by just hearing your stories about how you find these creatures, some of them elusive. I like where you composed the sunflower in the center of the lower part of the image. Gives one the feel of the rising sun and the bird singing about it is just the perfect gesture to go along with it. A clean background in the top half of the frame helps to give it an elevated feeling. Super job. A framed print of this shot would make a wonderful gift for someone in your life. Aug 9th
94 Aug 23 Comment Hi Sarita, I like this image and I think what you did to give the dragon fly's wings more pop is great. Since the wings are a different color in the reflection, however, it gave me a momentary pause to wonder why. Probably just the green in the water. Also, whatever is underneath the Amberwing's perch angling down to the bottom right is distracting. On the other hand, the gentle rippling on the water's surface adds a very nice element. Perhaps a different crop may have brought more focus on what's going on above the water. Just a thought. Aug 9th
94 Aug 23 Comment Hi Sherry, Both images are very nice, but I actually like the original better for a couple of reasons. Focus is spot on where it needs to be--on the eyes and the feathers. (Eye could have been a bit brighter.) The fact that you got this interesting bird apparently jumping in mid air is a great gesture. Also, I prefer the background in the original because it keeps the composition clean and keeps the viewer's attention on your subject better. In the other shot, while the water glistening is interesting, the brown band in the background (presumably the ground in shade) creates a distracting element that draws the viewer's attention away from the subject. I do like neck angle and beak buried in the feathers, though. Aug 9th
