Nice job capturing gesture in wildlife, Leslie. Their collective curiosity made me laugh. My only suggestion would be to open up the aperture more to create greater separation with the background. That would keep the focus squarely on your mountainside entertainers. |

Awesome job with this and the other two photos, Judy. Coincidentally, I just read an article about the burrowing owls in Cape Coral published in the summer issue of National Wildlife magazine. Urbanization is posing a huge threat to these charismatic creature. A group called the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife conducted a survey last year and found 1,700 adults and 2,095 juveniles throughout the city, a significant drop from previous years. Local conservation groups can frequently use high quality images to educate the public about their cause. Your photos are every bit as good as the photos in the article. Consider reaching out to them. |

Great shot, Sarita. I agree with Judy's comment about your patience being rewarded. Also, kudos to you for being mindful of the birds habitat, as well. On a somewhat related note, I was in New Mexico a couple of years ago and some phoebes made a nest right out the back porch, and sure enough they hatched four little ones. We had to capture a bull snake that was literally crawling up the wall with a free meal in mind. I set up my tripod one day trained right on the nest and sat in a lawn chair a safe distance away until the parents came back to feed. I then took a number of pictures remotely. None of them looked as good as yours. I know it's not easy to get that perfect shot. Nice job. |

Hi Sherry, I'd love to see these beautiful birds of prey in my yard. How fortunate you are. The only comment I have is that opening up the aperture a stop or two (if possible) might have made the birds stand out a bit more from the background. Very nice shot, nonetheless. |
